For me this router has been a tank. I had the RT-3200 and AC87u and they were buggy for the first 6 months. This has been solid right out of the box, not one issue.
Highway robbery.Found this UK supplier today http://www.box.co.uk/Asus_RT-AC5300_Wireless-AC5300_Tri-Band__1879508.html
£399.99 ouch, a lot of money!
Well I'm getting way lower wifi speeds with the 5300 one compared to the 3200, so strange
Reset your client Profiles for the new Router - that would be the first step...
You mean forget the network on the devices? If yes I made it, if not what should I do? All the devices is mobile ones like iPhones and ipads
With smart connect off the speed at wifi is wayyyy better, smart connect at 3200 had better results, and yes I made the hard reset and clicked at the default smart connect rules
not so strange , all the test I have seen don't show such a great if any improvement on 5 ghz bands , only 2.4 , and I hardly use 2.4 so the Asus 3200 is where I'll stay for a while . It is stable , reaches all corners of the house .Well I'm getting way lower wifi speeds with the 5300 one compared to the 3200, so strange

Yes, on the iDevices, just reset Network Settings and start over
Guys I made some tests and wanna share with you and see if it's normal
Smart Connect off :
iPhone 6s Plus - 2.4Ghz - strong speed never saw this speed before in any router 2.4
5ghz1 - amazing wifi speed, nothing to complain
5ghz2 - here is the problem, very poor speeds, worse than 2.4 one
Is it normal guys, one of the 5ghz is way worse than another in routers?
Thanks

I experienced this on the Linksys EA9200. My guess with the EA9200 3 antennas were external for one 5GHz radio and 3 were internal for the other 5GHz radio. But the AC5300 has all externals so I'm not sure. Also have you used inSSIDer to scan for wireless networks on the same channel? That slow 5GHz radio could be on a congested channel within your area.

Are you testing same clients on both 5.1 and 5,2 ? ? I get the same speeds on 5.1 and .2 with my 3200
