Hello

With the first Asus firmware ( 3.0.0.4.374.130 ) there functioned the USB hard disk.
Then I have installed the newest Asus firmware (3.0.0.4.374.726 ) and the USB hard disk did not go any more.

I have connected the hard drive to my computer and delete all test files.
Windows 8 reformatted and then connected to the router and is not detected correctly.

The error is always:

hotplug[698]: USB /dev/sda1(ntfs) failed to mount at the first try!

Hardrive Modell: Western Digital Elements 3000GB USB 2.0
Formatted in ntfs

In the router admin interface the hard drive on the first USB port appears!

I have unplugged the HDD power supply and the USB HDD connector but brings about nothing. The router several times restarted but no success.

ASUS RT-AC66U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.130 working!!

ASUS RT-AC66U Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.374.726 not working!!

Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.374.33 Beta 3 notworking!!

I have the router about two weeks.

And all other things go without problems!

Sorry my English is bad

Thank you very much

if you read the thread on beta 3

it's pretty clear asus moved from SDK5 to SDK6
and from your test SDK6 obviously does not support hdd greater than 2TB

if this is an important feature, I recommend for the time being you stay with the older firmware

Hi

Thank you for the important information about the SDK!

ok, I've unfortunately overlooked sorry....

Large HDD and 4 KB sector size support is actually tied to the kernel. Asus's FW only supports some disks, while my firmware supports most of them (through some additional kernel patching).

NTFS support however is still sketchy, thanks to our good old friend ufsd  I've had good results with ext3.

My WD My Book 3TB (USB2/USB 3) works flawlessly with 3.0.0.4.374.33 Beta 3 on my AC66U. No problems whatsoever. Didn't even have to format it to ext2 or ext3. It's NTFS formatted on a GPT partition.

I imagine that the usb to sata converter on your drive is not compatible.

I'll try it again to format the hard disk with ntfs and if there are problems again then I will format the HDD with ext3.

I'll make it tomorrow and now I'm in the bed and sleep well....

Just a remark: If I know good Asus moved from SDK5 to SDK6 on RT-N66 in the latest firmware release, the RT-AC66 (that Spektrum wrote) use SDK6 ~6 months ago.
