ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.5047

Beamforming reliability is highly dependent on your clients. If your clients have issues with it, then there's nothing the router can do about it, you will have to disable the functionality.

I tried to update to firmware 5047. After doing so (and after a factory reset) the top op the router page says "Firmware Version:3.0.0.4.374_5047". The firmware upgrade tab however shows "3.0.0.4.374_4887-gcbbd32a". It also shows a popup message indicating firmware upgrade was not succesful. Reflashing did not change this situation. What could I do next?

Printing is the worst!

Still have printing problem. I can print with 5047 but it lags a lot (with RT-Ac68U). Beamforming is disabled.

In the log I get this. I am not sure but I think its bad. any one have ideas or am I just crazy. :)

Still has disconnect problems

This build still has the disconnection issues when an iPhone or iPad connect to the wireless network, at least on the 2.4ghz band. The whole wireless network goes down briefly. I cannot confirm if it affects the wired as well or not.

Does your router reboot?

Mine doesn't have any issues with my iPad Air.

I can confirm the issue has been fixed in the current release, I have multiple apple devices (iPhones, iPads & Mac's) non of which have rebooted from the current release. Regardless the reboot issue was caused due to the Broadcom SDK and wasn't apple specific.

Solid as a rock here. No problems or disconnects and I have a lot of Apple and non-Apple devices.

I updated to this firmware and tried setting up port forward, but it fails. I trying to setup the port forward for my ceton my media center app which worked flawlessly when I had an older netgear router.

Steps taken

1. Assigned PC in question here ip 192.168.2.181
2. logged into router and accessed port forward page.
3. enabled port forwarding
4. Created port forward entry for local port 5832 (the app uses this port) on ip 192.168.2.181 for TCP traffic.
5. After entering the rule I hit apply and let the router update.
6. After update I test the port forward on the app and it fails everytime.

I'm frustrated as I've done port forwards before and can't seem to get it to work with this router.... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey everybody... My router is AC68R, my laptop is ASUS RoG G750JW. Another HP connect to my wifi with 150Mbps but my laptop just connect to AC 68R with 72.2 Mbps... Is it a problem??? Asus with asus and the result is so boring :(

Post a screenshot of the port forward you configured. Port forwarding definitely works on the router, it could be either something you didn't entered correctly on the webpage (it happened before), a double NAT situation, or your target computer not accepting the forwarded connection (firewall/security software configuration issues).

Power management does this often.
If your laptop is doing no traffic speed will be low. Will increase considerably when you are actually sending and receiving lots of traffic.
Of course, if between laptop and router there are no concrete walls or a considerable distance.
Use it and check the speed and throughput you are reaching.

I upgraded from RMerlin's 370.40 alpha 4, which by the way was an awesome FW, with the exception of the 5GHz light oddity and the fact that it wouldn't refresh the clients on the Network Map page, to the Asus .5047. As of this post I am up 3 hours and 41 minutes so far without any issues. Stable and powerful as it can be. The 5GHz light is operating as it suppose to be and all functions of the router are as they should. Very happy with it.:D

Also using 5047 and it works good.. :)

3.0.0.4.374.5517 is the next firmware. But download links are not available. :(

Don't pay too much attention to version numbers when comparing totally different routers. As you will note, most of the 5517 fixes were in the AC68's 5017 release, it's just that those other routers hadn't been updated since the 4561 release.

2.4g lags a lot

Ipad air lags watching video or downloading when connected on 2.4g, everything is fine on 5g. Same problem with airprint printer it lags very mutch when printing even with my PC hardwired. Beamforming is disabled. I will have a try with Merlin 41 beta 2. My router is RT-AC68U

EDIT:
I,ve installed Merlin 41 beta2. It still lags when printing (2.4G) but a lot faster and acceptable.
