I'm having the endless refresh problem too since upgrading from beta3. It says 5 clients but I have more. .....

I had the same, factory reset and reload of my settings resolved the issue.
Now it's working as normal, and the wheel also stops spinning under the clients.

Make sure you don't have anything forwarding port 443 to either an internal server (for example a Windows Home Server), and that you didn't configure HTTPS on port 443 on the Administration -> System page.

Merlin, you truly are a wizard. I did setup a port forward rule for using 443... that blew it up. Now working, shame the firewall is not advanced enough for that distinction. Thanks I am forever grateful!

NAT, UPNP, and or Port Forwarding issues

so when i first got the rt-ac66u i had no problems with multiple nat on more then 1 xbox, now i can not get open nat on more then 1 xbox for the life of me, and i had to turn of upnp and manually forward ports to get open nat on one of them, only explanation was that one of the ports my computer was using for upnp was screwing it up, but i switch everything back to my old router and got 2 open nat and my computer connected with all the same stuff open, infact my friend couldnt even connect to me the other day untill i turned of unpn and enabled port forwarding (port 3074 was already being forwarded by upnp before hand i looked in the port forwarding tab)

arp table looks normal.

It's interesting 192.168.0.7 doesn't get it's name populated. It's in my static leases as Drobo. I'm trying to trace the code but I'm not great at asp. Where does it get the names from? It looks like it tries to look at the dhcp leases, but getdhcpLeaseInfo.asp gives broken xml and not all clients are listed (or clients in the screenshot for that matter.)

getdhcpLeaseInfo.asp
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<dhcplease>
	<client>
<mac>value=a0:0b:ba:e3:dc:c7</mac>
<hostname>value=Android-DC</hostname>
</client>
<client>
<mac>value=02:22:15:8d:e3:ab</mac>
<hostname>value=Playmate</hostname>
</client>
<client>
<mac>value=94:44:44:e8:ad:85</mac>
<hostname>value=Sharp</hostname>
</client>

<hostname>value=Prostitute</hostname>
</client>
<client>
<mac>value=b4:07:f9:a3:1f:e7</mac>
<hostname>value=Android-JL</hostname>
</client>

	<client>
		<mac>None</mac>
		<hostname>None</hostname>
	</client>
</dhcplease>

Note; the ac66u is at 192.168.0.2/24

When looking at the XML content, can you determine which would be the device that's missing (and would be what should be shown in that incomplete <client> block)?

What you're describing is not uncommon with other router vendors when using two Xboxs.

If you want to use two Xboxs, then use port triggering instead of single port forwarding.

If you're using one Xbox, then use single port forwarding with udp 88 and tcp/udp 3074. Some people have better luck with upnp disabled. You'll have to experiment with upnp enabled or disabled.

Reset the router to factory defaults and start over from scratch. Make sure your Xboxs have static IP addresses.

sorry but i dont believe in using any of that fancy stuff, as it only complicates things and should be only nessesarry for shirtty routers if UPNP does what it is suppose to it will give both xbox open nat and no problems with computer either, d link routers can do it no problem so if this asus cant i guess ill just sell it and get a dir 865l lol, and like i said, this only happened after update

this is from xbox forums "Multiple Console Support
Confirmed No
*Because it will not consistently work without NAT issues*"

if this cant be fixed that is a massive knock to asus products, lol not even being able to give 2 xbox's open nat with upnp

That's assuming that the XBox doesn't try to forward the same port all the time on every console, in which case you will never be able to have both of them working at the same time. You cannot forward the same port to two different IP, that is simply impossible. It's like wanting to have a single door open to two different rooms at the same time.

i fully understand this, however when my xbox connected to the router with upnp off, and port forwarding off entirely (0 rules set and set to off) it would still not even give open nat on 1 xbox, with 0 ports being forwarded to anywhere, meaning the xbox should have access to every port, and every xbox on the network should...

also with upnp on and port forwarding off same thing, open nat sometimes ,moderate sometimes, my friend cant connect all the time

You're right, the rest of the devices are either statically assigned on the device itself or they're not turned on, so they won't have leases. If I turn more DHCP devices on, the XML grows, but the None/None block stays at the end. I guess the XML is valid.

If it's not getting device names for the network map from there, where is it getting them from?

Edit: I just saw this post http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showpost.php?p=66169&postcount=26 and just realized networkmap is a process. I killed it and restarted it, and went from 5 clients to 9 instantly, but the refresh icon is still spinning.

Had the same exact problems with my two xbox's, I couldn't get open NAT consistently regardless of what rules I made with Merlin builds. My solution is going to Tomato firmware, seems to be working flawlessly, haven't had moderate NAT yet, deff worth trying in my opinion.

appreciate it, i swear i did not have this problem on other builds, should have thoroughly tested it stock when i got it

hi hoping someone may of had this or it is something silly i am doing.
Ok never really had any problems with any of the FW apart from the 5ghz wi fi.
But i have just upgraded from .26b to .32 did a clear reset of the nram and all is ok apart from my usb stick that i had mounted in one of the usb openings.
When i log on it shows my HDD mounted ok but the 32GB memory stick unmounted and no matter what i do it will not mount.

I have tried removing it then plugging back in and that makes the whole router crash and reset it self(says something about port number/ip address change)?????? also have tried reformatting it the same as before, as NTFS, but it still crashes the whole router??. But for some reason the HDD that is in the other usb slot has always worked and is still working though all the upgrades.

Thanks for any help here :) Pete

@ Rmerlin any idea about the freezing up when i connect the usb stick?;)

I don't know. USB disk compatibility is always hit-or-miss with these integrated devices. Manufacturers of disks only test theirs against a regular PC (and most of the time only against WIndows, hence many enclosures wouldn't work properly under Linux).

I just find it strange that it all did fully work then did not after the upgrade. Ok
Well I guess I have to have a play around some more ;)

Did you try plugging it to a PC and running a chkdsk on it? One of the recent changes by Asus is that plugged disks can now be scanned for filesystem errors. If there is a problem with the filesystem it could explain why the problem only started with a recent FW upgrade.

AiCloud usability issue.

I log in and can see all my SAMBA devices, if I click on any resource, I get the following error popup:

The page at https://xxx.xom says:

Connection failed!

I am perplexed what has changed... any help would be great!

just so u know merlin, i am back on stock asus firmware, UPnP is on, port forwarding if off, and im back to having no nat issues with 2 xbox's, so it was definately firmware related what was happening to me, right now i have 2 xbox's sitting at black ops 2 main screen with open nat, and port forwarding tab in system log shows 3074 going to my xbox and 19059 going to my brothers hopefully this can be fixed so one day i can switch back to merlin builds

Yeah for whatever reason asus/Merlin builds don't mesh well with xbox's. I would consistently get booted from games or lag out. Here is a link to the tomato firmware I am using ( the one that says mega) http://tomato.groov.pl/download/K26RT-N/build5x-112-EN/Asus%20RT-N66u%2064k/ it's a little more involved to flash the router but is still relatively easy, plus there is tons of how too guides. Let me know if it works well and good luck

one day i will have to try tomato but for now i got 2 open nat working on stock firmware (latest version) no problem. One day i will have to try tomato but i use alot of the features on this asus, like SMB, FTP, and DDNS, and aicloud, i can go without the last 3 but i need SMB to work with my nas, i would assume tomato supports SMB but im not positive if it works good with the asus harddrive or if the usb port has been written into the firmware, aswell as i enjoy the other features (FTP, DDNS, and aicloud) dont know wich of those are also available on tomato, other then that my only concert would be the quality of the wifi and how hard is it to install, im sure i can do the install but dd-wrt was just a little tricky when i tried it, and i ended up going back to stock cause the wifi sucked, right now i get 60-95mb down ( i pay for 100/5 and get 98 wired) over 2 stream 40mhz 5GHz all over the house i dont know if the tomato software can do this

Had to switch back to stick firmware due to performance issues on both wireless especially 2.4 Ghz and LAN. I usually stick with Merlin builds but this one caused issues for me.
