Normal for my router has been 54%… I’m not runny any scripts, so im guessing it is related to the firmware somehow…
What model router are we talking about?

ISP modems (or HGW) usually get their config from the ISPs Network, and are thus safe to reset.
And you can check tat easily with your provider.

Because like a device can remember WiFi settings (and go bad with new WiFi drivers on the router), so can the modems...
Like "something changed on the Asus firmware managing the WAN port" from your example... 😉

I had that when changed to new router, and had to ask my ISP to reset it to default (have no way of doing it myself), all worked after that.
My ISP (Centurylink) said I can reset my modem (outdoor Calix 716GE ONT). Im going to give this firmware another go. If you dont hear back from me, it worked!

I'm really at wit end here can anyone with flexqos experience help me?
I've been using flexqos with merlin firmware for close to 2 years now but recent firmwares including latest here does not work with flexqos anymore
I always go through wipe-clean then install and re-config everything without using backup restore except flexqos settings
Flexqos now just doesn't seem to work most of the time. If i download something it will max out my line instead of 90% i set and my ping become mad and even packet lost when pinging the router itself.
Also try disabling fc but that only seems to help showing more traffic on the traffic graph but not the qos works itself.
At last i put it back to default adaptive qos and ping becomes normal again and 90% limit is respected but this may miss-classify some traffic without flexqos

I would say that FlexQoS is on its deathbed from 388.4 onward. Be happy that it doesn't cause your router to reboot every few minutes like some people have reported. Feel free to continue this discussion in the first thread below.

Is there any alternative that works similar to the way flexqos works ? does traditional qos work? last time i remember someone here said its broken

Hi, coming from default Asus FW where i had a lot of disconnects. I can tell you that with asusFW, even a ping from any wifi network to the router would work 1min, fail 10 or 20s.
My setup:
4* XT12 in Mesh with ETH backhaul

I see the following messages:

Sep 7 12:51:46 Mastiff: init
Sep 7 12:52:16 rc_service: watchdog 2524:notify_rc stop_aae
Sep 7 12:52:16 rc_service: watchdog 2524:notify_rc start_mastiff
Sep 7 12:52:16 rc_service: waitting "stop_aae" via watchdog ...
Sep 7 12:52:17 Mastiff: init
Sep 7 12:52:47 rc_service: watchdog 2524:notify_rc stop_aae
Sep 7 12:52:47 rc_service: watchdog 2524:notify_rc start_mastiff
Sep 7 12:52:47 rc_service: waitting "stop_aae" via watchdog ...
Sep 7 12:52:48 Mastiff: init

Its showing this in loop.. for hours. Any ideas?
Reset to defaults to me its pretty hard since i would need to reconfigure a lot of things.

My 2nd doubt is:
In Asus Default FW, i had Guest NEtwork Pro where you could create IOT network, etc. We dont have the same option in Merlin and although i have disabled those in the Merlin UI, i still see them in the devices. What would it be the command line to do it thru ssh - to delete those?

@RMerlin ?

I see the following messages:
Disable Asus nattunnel on the Sysinfo -> Other Settings page. No idea why it crashes for some users, I can't reproduce, and it's a closed source component so I can't do anything about it.

Don't go from 3.0.0.6 to 3.0.0.4 firmwares without a factory default reset, too many things have changed between these two code bases. 3.0.0.6 is a major update.

Thanks @RMerlin
I've disabled the NAT option, and the error is gone.
Things that i have and that could lead to it: Bridge mode from ISP, i have WAN ip directly. I have passthru in IPV6 option.

Ok, so i will need to do a factory reset to all my 4x ET12.
I can tell you that the wifi is much more stable with this final version. Thank you so much for that hard work.

I have around 14 IOT devices - thru 2.4Ghz network and 8 CCTV at 4k with compression. In my mind, the ideal would be a 2.4Ghz for IOT, a 5GH network for the CCTV, put some VLANs on-top and do some port mngt on the switches with those tags.

But maybe i will just stick with 2.4Gh normal network, put all IOT there -> 20M band
Put all CCTV on 5G-1 - 40M band
All my laptops and mobiles on 5G-2 - 80M band

On the profession tab - since i disable smart connect - it used to be really bad on original FW, i disabled the beam option and set the trigger to -75db. Any comments?

I don't use it, so I don't know. Depends on the clients' stickiness and your specific environment.

I have noticed the same behavior since 3004 (alpha/beta/final). For me I simply just reinstalled scribe (option is) after each firmware upgrade and suggest that you bring up this subject in the AddOns forum with @cmkelley if you would like to have this issue fixed.
Unfortunately, I am sans router for probably the next 3 to 4 months. We are having extensive work done on our home and are living in an Air B&B, possibly until the end of the year (longer, if the city keeps dragging its heels on permits). The Air B&B provides WiFi, not a direct internet connection, so I really can't do much router-wise.

Trying to boot the router without a WAN connection has caused strange problems I haven't had time to even start to look into (entware not starting, for one), so the chances of my doing anything with scribe until the end of the year are very slim.

Stock Asus firmware took a day for the issue to come up. Merlin firmware takes about a week or more. I'll report back.

No problems, this can wait as the reported issue can be easily fixed in the means time. Good luck with your "renovations" and FYI we have the same issues with our city permits here in Canada (everything seems to take an eternity now since the covid), not even talking about the price of materials explosion.

After more than a year with 386.8 firmware solid as a rock, I took the plunge this morning (AX88U)
I updated to 3004.388.4, followed immediately by a WPS reset and manual reconfiguration of all options.

No problems to report: WAN / LAN / WIFI / VPN are working perfectly so far !

# Like others in this thread, I just lost the "Protected Management Frames" option with WPA2, but I saw that it was normal, Wifi still works fine without it

# I've just seen a new extra option in the wifi "Roaming Wizard" which is enabled by default. I'll leave it like that, I think it's normal.

Firmware default 386.8 :

Thanks to Merlin and the developers for all your hard work ;)

I would just like to say "thank you" for bringing this default setting change in "Roaming Assistant" to our attention.

My 3d printers all stopped working properly on my network after updating to this new firmware, and restarting / changing SSID's / etc didn't work. All I had to do is disable this setting and immediately all of printers starting working again properly as they were before updating to this firmware. These were to my knowledge the only devices on my network that started having issues, and it was extremely frustrating. Resetting to factory defaults was not an option that I was willing to do, nor would it have actually fixed the problem if this setting is enabled by default!

If anyone else is having network issues after this update, try messing with the Roaming Assistant setting.

It's not Asus, it's Trend Micro. This is a known issue and you can ignore the log event.
