Might as well switch to the "release" version if you're gonna nuke it anyway. All the functionality is the same but evidently you'll save yourself some nagging about updates.

Went back to 3.0.0.6.102_21514 due to Wi-Fi issues with some phone clients. Intermittent disconnections while video calling.

Router is GT-AX6000
 
Did you just flash RMerlin firmware and expected it to work without a full reset to factory defaults and then perform a minimal and manual configuration to secure the router and connect to your ISP?
 
Yes, the mismatched 6/4 firmware downgrade was implied. 🙂
 
I installed Merlin and did a factory reset. Then tested it for a few days and went back to asus firmware and did a factory reset again.
 
I did not notice as I did not use torrents for some times, but sadly my old problem with the router restarting exactly 10 mins after I exit a torrent app on a client is back after a dirty upgrade. It is the upgrade for sure because I was seeding something 2 days before the upgrade.
Last time doing a nuclear reset and installing stock FW and then Merlin FW back was the only solution, and indeed I had no such problem since, but this upgrade did something again.
I will try the same solution now, setting up everything from scratch, because I have no idea how could I debug such an issue with success and I was investigating for weeks the last time without finding the cause.

(I'm still on the beta btw, but no option to post there).

I recall you mentioning this before. I've never seen it happen with my AX6000 on any firmware, so something unique to your router configuration

Should of mentioned it first, so we are not misled and confused 😁

Then, the WiFi driver version might be different enough (and some other FW settings) to mandate a forget network and reconnect per device (if you didn't try it also)...
 
And, to nail your process down, after the reset, you didn't import any backup config files, correct? 🙂

Dirty upgrade from the most recent beta on GT-AX6000 and I am getting a ton of lag now in games that wasn't there on the beta version, when this lag happens my VOIP calls get interrupted too. I have cake QoS to try to relieve the lag.

Don't recall seeing blocks of roamast: sta entries in the system log prior to upgrading to 3004.388.5 on a RT-AX86U Pro, but now seeing blocks of those entries from time to time since updating from 3004.388.4 to 3004.388.5. Not using AiMesh or AP's. The two MAC addresses are a cellphone connected via 5Ghz to the main WiFi and the router's MAC.

Yes indeed and you even replied iirc, thank you for that.
It is only the gt-ax6000 and 3004 FW tho. If I add up all the Asuswrt-Merlin (family and relatives) and business related (openwrt) routers I have deployed, we are talking about hundreds of routers and only this is the one I cannot get along with, makes me sad.

If I have to guess, I have some settings and with that in place the FW fails at purging the junk from the NAT tables or whatnot, but guessing is useless at the end.
I even replaced the unit with Amazon because I was thinking about hardware problem, but nope, it is the gt-ax6000.
I hope the nuking will help again.
 
Upgraded without any issues, although for my AX68U these upgrades are becoming meaningless, only reason to upgrade are security patches (if present).

Bug fixes, new functionality, security updates... who would say no to that. Do you reluctantly update your IOS/Android in the same way?
