24h hours and everything's working as expected.

Yeah, I read that link, thank you.

Still unanswered questions...

:oops::oops::oops:

What router model? What firmware is the 'previous firmware'? Are you using any USB drives? Are you using a PC to do these updates?

We need more information than, 'it's failing to upgrade'.
Model: Asus GT-AXE11000
Current Firmware: 3004.388.4_0_rog
USB-Flashdrive attached
Update via wired connection with browser (tried Chrome/Edge/Firefox)
Never had issues updating the firmware before...

UPDATE

Thanks for the heads up on the Version ... I was a little blind and missed the E in GT-AXE ---- All good now, update went smoohtly with the right file

Safely remove the USB drive. Reboot the computer via the GUI.

Remove all LAN Ethernet cables from the router.

Flash the new firmware after:
  • Verifying you downloaded the correct firmware for your specific router model.
  • Verify the hash of the actual firmware file (not the zipped file).

If the above doesn't work, a full reset may be necessary.

Or, you can try the non-ROG version too.

that went fast
from alpha to beta to release

when will the wireless driver version update or won't update that often

Broadcom updates the drivers, on their schedule/criteria.

Thanks.

No, I have yet to utilize USBs or addon packages. It feels too advanced for me at this stage.

I've been mucking around it on and off last night. But right now, almost 8 hours straight.

I've been taking notes. Countless "dirty flashing" like it was ___ (insert whatever joke enters your mind here) ___...

=====

Few hours ago, I found a new "sequence" (unfolding of taken steps). If I "checked for updates", "latest version" will appear; click on it, "release note" pops up.

From there, it gets more interesting. When I actually start uploading the firmware update from my computer, more than a few minutes pass... I open another tab and input the default router ip...

And, I am asked to create a new network. Set an SSID, login, and then it formally asks me to upgrade to the latest firmware (388.5)

Then (I've done this a few times, if I remember correctly), it asks for a few more minutes to install the firmware update... I give it several minutes; type down the default router ip...

and boom! ... I'm back at a clean, unconfigured 388.4 firmware web ui.

This time, as I'm typing... my Internet status is "disconnected" .. but all my devices are able to access the Internet.

...

Ok, i'm tired now.. it's been a long while since i've slept

i'll be back later and let the net gremlins at work...

Dirty upgrade from 3004.388.4, so far so good. Thank you very much Merlin!

Hmm... interesting, pinging my router during update process... i get request time out for the first half or so

it could be due to my modified nonconventional router ip 192.168.X.1

bare bones. firewalls down.

i def think i got a corrupted image copy.

gonna try the mirror site.

Dirty upgrade from beta1, So far so good! 45h

Job done!

Definitely, I had a corrupted image or error transmission either from downloading the file or uploading it.

I had changed ethernet cables in doing both. So now, I'm good.

Sorry for being an annoyance (if anyone were annoyed), and thanks for putting up with me!
