Asuswrt-Merlin 378.54_2 is now available

Constant disconnects on my 5Ghz. Hopefully this is solved on the next version. I upgraded from Merlin's previous FW that he had, didn't think I had to hard reset on this update. But the drops on 5Ghz are beginning to make me wonder.

Let us know if you fix this

5 GHz issue solved after a factory reset. It seems highly sensitive to changes of settings.

I had to switch my network over to a lower channel recently due to interference here. I just discovered that selecting 2.4GHz band channel 6 (and only channel 6) on my RT-N66U causes clients to be unable to associate. They don't see any beacons. 2.4GHz channels 5 and 7 work fine. 5GHz operation is not affected. A factory reset doesn't fix this. I'm not sure if this is a regression in this particular version, as the last time I used channel 6 was back in 376.4x.

Since .54, when I reboot my router I don't get an internet connection until I reboot my cable modem too (ziggo (ziggo not upc) netherlands, ac66)

Has anybody been having issues recently with the n66u where they lose ethernet connection? i heard there were ethernet port defects on the old revision models of the n66u. anyway lately the connection on my pc has been disconnecting at random when i'm using the internet. i've switched ports but no luck. my ps4 never disconnects but sometimes when i remove the pc ethernet and put it back in the router the ps4 magically loses connection and then i would have to unplug and reconnect that back in. I am using cat6a cables as well for both ps4 and pc. i also did a reboot of the router and the disconnect happened shortly afterwards as well. I'm thinking it could be the issue that people have mentioned about the ports being defective? Also using 378.54_2 too. don't think this has been happening that much so since the newer firmwares. i'm guessing that might be the cause but merlin does an awesome job either way.

Update: Okay. So with my cat6a cables i've noticed just pulling them back while they're still in the port loses connection. it needs to be all the way up against the port. I do have cat 5 cables so i will try out this. could be the cat6a cables being too sensitive since they have a little bit different wiring on the ends.

The drive has no errors and it is recognized as usb 3 or 2.

It was too easy to find it. Client for Microsoft Networks was not installed....

Ok, I tried disabling preallocation. It still seems to OOM though and I'm getting more and more ext3 errors,

Would converting the partition from ext3 to ext2 help?

Hi guys,

Just in case if anyone else encounters this problem in the future, it turns out that the EXT3 partition was created in an Extended Partition and the Extended Partition itself is marked as Microsoft. The HDD has been in such state since when I was using Asus RT-N65U. So, the problem seems to be related to the EXT driver in Asuswrt and normally occurs when extensive writes to the partition occur. I'm not sure what Padavan did in his firmware for RT-N65U but his driver is very stable and it support EXT4 and XFS. Perhaps it is due to the 3.0.x kernel used.

Anyway, to resolve my issue, I had to repartition the HDD by removing non-EXT related partitions in it. In my case, I just delete everything and created a primary EXT3 partition.

If it's an RT-AC68P, these are using a 1 GHz bcm4709, versus the 800 MHz bcm4708a used by the W/R models.

The CFE v. 1.0.2.5 belongs to RT-AC68P/V2

Interesting. Because I purchased the 68U, got a 68UV2, and ordered it from Amazon. So it may not be a Best Buy exclusive anymore.

Thanks for the reassurance. However, 78 C was the temp while it was out in the open when I first got it. Now that I have it placed on a confined shelf in my credenza, I see the temperature getting up to 85 C. Is this okay for long-term, 24/7 use, or am I better off finding a better spot for it?

yes, these devices can work comfortable up to 90 C, beyond that I would get worried. Look at mine it is 80 in open, room temp 24 C

Nope, I am on 68U but I have overclocked mine to 1400 and it has been stable. Tip: Most of the time your router CPu is not doing much unless your run VPN or download using torrent etc
