If you're having problems with "ntp: start NTP update" showing up many times in your log, try changing the Administration | System | NTP Server to pool.ntp.org . I was using NIST Internet Time Service and it seems they're experiencing problems.

When I have to update the firmware, I must reboot the router for the new firmware to take correctly. I also must restart the router for everything to work properly as well.

I didn't have time to look into it, I was busy fixing other issues lately after taking a few days off.
I completely understand as this is just a side project and I totally appreciate all of your hard work! Just look into it whenever you have the time as I know this bug is not as important as others

382.1 Beta 2 has been released, for the same three models.

Code:
2e8b7ce Updated documentation
c21d7dd rc: Do not prepend 3.0.0.4 to FW version (console boot log, and minidlna config file)
f8702e9 webui: DNSFilter - fix the "Add" button image, better identify the Client field as a MAC
ec8fdf5 webui: fix OUI lookups
9744754 webui: update OUI database
80787fe webui: fixed Ethernet table layout on Sysinfo page
a21c78d e2fs: add back tune2fs (to match AM380)
2bee3b5 Converted changelog-382.txt to Windows format (it's time for Microsoft to add UNIX EOL support to Notepad me thinks - everything else does already)
58e3058 webui: add missing "Custom" DDNS type
7c6e9c0 dnsfilter: split rules across multiple nvram on HND due to 255 chars limit
053ff57 shared: fix nvram_split_get() and enable it
8be8bf7 httpd: remove unused variable
d4db370 dnsfilter: free duplicated string after building iptables rules
3bfea15 openvpn: fix a few cases where we requested the incorrect certificate types at config time.
4d69911 nvram: implemented workarounds and safeguards for HND limiting non-Asus nvram additions to 255 chars max
419fb9c Bump revision to beta 2
e6fadd7 dhd,networkmap: add missing dhd and arpstorm exe recovered from firmware releases
9296183 webui: add missing model-specific files for RT-AC88U and RT-AC3100
62913a4 sdk7114: merge working binary blob for RT-AC88U

Beta 2 / Ac3100/5Ghz Wifi Drops, no issues Beta 1

Go to the LAN setup page and enter the IP address for your favorite DNS server in the 'DNS Server 1' field - without this setting the router can't figure out the IP address of the NTP server you have entered in 'Administration -> System -> NTP Server'. The alternative is to enter the IP address of your favorite NTP server directly in Administration -> System -> NTP Server.

I have pool.ntp.org in there, I never changed anything from default

I got it working now;
I selected Get LAN IP Automatically [YES] and then Connect to DNS Server automatically [YES] then did a "just-in-case" and went to the main router 86U and manually assigned it's DHCP IP for the 1900P AP just so it will stay the same.

Thx for the help on this guys :)

Looks like the xt_set.ko module isn't getting compiled for the RT-AC86U. The kernel needs both ip_set and xt_set to work.

There's been zero changes to the wifi code between beta 1 and beta 2, therefore your issue is unrelated to the beta 2 firmware. Almost all the changes were related to OpenVPN and the web interface.

Well there was 0 change to my settings also. :) If you want to be binary about it. I wasn't looking for a solution either, i was just letting the crowd/you know as it's a beta.

Try changing access to router from HTTPS to HTTP in the system settings - the GT5300 has this issue.

I'm not sure what did the trick for me to login to WTFast but it's working now.

I did the following changes and just decided to give it another try and see if i could login and it worked.!?! maybe they had issues on there end.

-flashed beta 2
-regenerated the cert under admin->system

For @WTFast it still says they're in beta with a small list of games. Is that data antiquated? I saw their Asus product page looked dusty but the full game list was quite robust. You guys playing anything like BF1 on it etc?

@Merlin

soon as I logged into WTFast I'm now getting these errord in the logs;
They are pilling up fast

Anyway to compile that module directly on the router level without having to recompile the whole firmware?

You need to recompile the kernel with the option enabled to generate the module.

You could try loading this version I compiled for my test build, no guarantee it will work without a complete kernel recompile however.

As I've already said, wtfast is closed source, and outside of my control.

If you use an automatic channel, rebooting your router after a firmware flash might have moved it to a different channel that's causing you problems.

Nah, i'm all noise floor metered for best setup and on static channels. Full disclosure i didn't fac reset from b1 to b2 so maybe that was it. I just fac reset and restored settings. So :shrug:

Thank You though kind sir.

Didn't work. I guess I'll just have to wait for you to release the fix since you kinda pinpointed the issue that might be because of the module was not compiled.

Yes I got this as well with WTFast & depending on where you are located in the world WTFast can do nothing to reduce your ping and in some cases make it worse to some servers as it did for me on stock firmware.

If you want a service that works & is cheaper than the paid WTFast service try https://mudfish.net/ it reduced my ping by ~60ms

This would impact my selective routing scripts from the description. I have my test AC88U router ready to flash when this gets fixed.
