Block Tor network with Asuswrt-Merlin

Blocking access to Exit Nodes would only stop people from using Tor to access you, it will not stop you from accessing Tor in any form.

Then, because of Bridges, blocking access to entry/Guard nodes is mostly fruitless, but probably the most logical approach.


I have tried to see if anyone has dependable methods of blocking Tor, but most articles are plain wrong or overly complex with unpredictable results.

If your son uses Windows perhaps you could implement AppLocker to prevent him running the Tor Browser:

Thanks Nullity for your detailed explanation. Perhaps one thing I can do is switch to OpenDNS, which claims to block many of the domains used by cryptoware:

Without all of the back/forth, I found this thread looking to do one thing - block my underage kid from working to circumnavigate my protections and access things he shouldn't be. Talking with him has impact for awhile but he always returns to it..taking hordes of consequences in between. TorBrowser is latest find. grrr. (yet somehow proud at the same time)

Technology is never a good baby sitter - It's pretty awesome that he's working to find a way to get around things, and done right, he could be an awesome security professional one day (hopefully on the right side...)

Good parenting, stepping up, is always the best way - showing him (or her) that you know what they're doing, and sitting down and explaining the hows/whys... it's the digital equivalent of the birds/bees speech...

As a parent, I understand the concerns - for what it's worth, I never blocked access, I just logged what he did, and made it visible on an internal Web Page that he could see - and so could his mother - and I suggested to him, don't go anywhere you would not be embarrassed for your mom to see...
