New Around Here
Before buying BQ16, I checked the technical specifications page on the official page and the product LAN supports VLAN.

But after I bought it, I couldn’t find the vlan page on Lan.

I asked Asus via email and they replied that BQ16 does not support VLAN.

As I have posted on an other thread here, vlan is a thing with asus routers that I had never noticed it's absence because I never had the knead of it in the past, but now the time came that i have to use it and suddenly I found that my RT-AX88U witch cost me a little more than 300 euros does not support it.

Also the thing that frustrates me more is that the free cheap routers the isp gives you have that function in the gui, also routers from other brands that cost less than 100 euros have it.

I don't know what asus was was thinking and for years they release their routers in the market without this feature even the expensive ones not just the cheap.

Now they say that the feature is going to be added with firmware 9.0.0.6.102_xxxx that is still in beta mode and only in specific models: GT-AX11000 Pro, GT-AX6000, ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000, RT-AX86U Pro, RT-AX88U Pro, ZenWiFi Pro ET12, ZenWIFI Pro XT12.

What about the rest of us that spend a good amount of money on their devices and now that we have to use the vlan it does not exist.

Don't get confused by VLAN on the WAN side some ISP's require (available in all home routers) and VLAN network segmentation on the LAN side (available in very few home routers). Your RT-AX88U router has VLAN on the WAN side in LAN, IPTV section of the GUI (I know, not the best place). What Asuswrt 5.0 (3.0.0.6) offers (not for all models) is VLAN network segmentation on the LAN side.

Yes of course we are talking about the lan side vlans, and as i can remember the VMG8623-T50B from zyxel that was free from my isp use to have
VLAN/QoS 802.1Q VLAN tagging/un-tagging, although I can't be completely sure because back at the time as I mention that wasn't a concern of mine.

Not surprised about Zyxel, they have quite a bit specialized and SMB networking gear. Common home router manufacturers rarely offer VLAN on the LAN side. You have to look for specific models or flash 3rd party firmware like OpenWrt or Fresh Tomato.

The OP isn't joking. 3.0.0.6 no longer equals vlan support. Asus now appears to be artificially locking Guest Network Pro/Vlans behind the "pro" label. I guess given the name, that was to be expected.

Those stuck with 3.0.0.4 can now give up hope of ever getting vlans.
Fortunately not only Pro models.
I have a GT-AX6000 that has already moved to the latest 3.0.0.6 firmware, GT-AXE16000 also.
we now have to wait for Merlin to release this version for that models, and maybe (because he does miracles some times) to bring it to other models as well like my RT-AX88U.

GT-AXE16000 also

This one doesn't have 3.0.0.6 firmware yet. Stuck along with ET12 on 3.0.0.4... I know, the most expensive flagship models. Owners are not happy.

and maybe (because he does miracles some times) to bring it to other models

This won't happen. Only models with stock Asuswrt 3.0.0.6 can get Asuswrt-Merlin on 3.0.0.6.

Merlin would still need 3.0.0.6 to potentially re-enable vlans but that is likely not a priority at all.
If it's not supported upstream, then I can't do anything. Large portions of VLAN code is closed source, so it must be enabled at the source.

Thanks for clarifying the difference & resemblense , I wasn't sure about this feature. I will get a new ISP soon with VLAN requirement on the WAN side. and need to enable IPTV with a VLAN ident then.
Would be more logical to name the section 802.1Q / VLAN WAN tagging something

There seems to be support for VLANs on the BQ16 as when adding one of the wireless networks if you select isolate from main network and apply, it then appears to give you a new subnet and VLAN ID for the new network. In my case it added a network with 192.168.52.0/24 and VLAN 52. You could amend this once it had been created. I'm not at home and dont have remote access but can check the exact details later.

Yea, I can get vlan tags for wifi guest networks, but can't configure lan ports on nodes, trunking, etc.
