I have latest diversion, skynet and amtm installed on my ac86u with merlin 384.13

When I connect to my router via OpenVPN with my phone over cellular the ads are still there. I can clearly remember on my previous router ac68u that that was not the case, the ads were blocked when I was accessing my router over openvpn...

Any suggestions?

@sl4fko, did you check the box to advertise DNS to clients in the advanced server settings when you set up the OpenVPN server?

Ok, that...

That actually works... Thanks A LOT!

Is there a list that anyone knows of that can block pornography? I used the Large blocking file, but it does not appear to block those types of sites. Thanks!

I guess moderator does not like the p word that rhymes with corn. My previous post was blocked so let me word it like this: Is there a list that anyone knows of that can block explicit sites? I used the Large blocking file, but it does not appear to block those types of sites. Thanks!

would it be possible to Route the DNS only through the VPN server? I don't really care to have the IP addess on my home computer, just the DNS tunnel.

@Goobi You can find 15 different host file variants here:
https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts/blob/master/readme.md

The Standard blocking list in Diversion is just Unified hosts = (adware + malware)
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/StevenBlack/hosts/master/hosts

You can use Unified hosts + *orn (use the link from the Raw hosts column)

All predefined blocking lists' URLs in Diversion can be found here:
https://diversion.ch/diversion/use/blocking-file-hosts-files.html
Thanks!

Hello,
I am planning to flash my Asus rtac-86u router with the Asus Merlin firmware,
I have a few questions about this. I have limited experience with Openwrt
-is the diversion package similar to installing from opkg cli? If not how I can install it
- is there a webui in a sub menu on the router firmware page for configuration?
-does it work similar to the adblock package from openwrt?
Many thanks.

Please see the link in my signature below for the amtm Step-by-Step guide for the easiest and best way to get Diversion and other useful scripts installed too. :)

Dear @lonelycoder
Moved to 4Gb USB because way too many errors on ext2 and if added more blocking lists in customized section, large ones, it gives me no more memory even if swap was 1GB.
Strange since I use only Diversion, ya-malware-block.sh, and iblocklist loader v2!
Any idea why?

Now changed:
Ext3 (maximum supported by my RT-AC66U)
and 2GB and testing... thse large lists.

Sorry 1 more question,

Once I flash the asuswrt Merlin would it still maintain it's old configs or should I do a reset and configure once again

and here the top command results:
Mem: 175936K used, 63588K free, 0K shrd, 356K buff, 2612K cached
Huge memory used!
Wonder why so much?

Dear @Lonelycoder wonder if possible.
Happens to me so many times before, let's say the connection drops and the router restarts, is possible to continue the update of blocking lists from where it was and not restarting from the very beginning? if a log is created then it should restart from where it was and not from very beginning, don't you agree?

What are you blocking and whitelisting that consumes so much memory and space? Your situation seems unique, since Diversion works smoothly for most users with a reasonable blocking list.

@Mircica Since your blacklist and whitelist domains are pretty huge and it's taking a hit on the routers limited resources, I'd advise you to offload this work to your computer. Do all the whitelisting there and only import the final list in Diversion.
