looks like an issue with your certificates ( or at least the one for .adnx.com) .... you could try purging them and seeing if that helps ... ep in diversion menu , option 3 manage pixelserv certificates, option 1 purge...

Thanks, I have done that now. Will see if it helps..

im tempted to suggest you check your USB stick for corruption (is it an old stick?) .... maybe you can enable the disk check in amtm and reboot the router to see if it throws up any errors.

To my knowledge SanDisk sticks write protect the entire stick if errors start to occur. Also, it looks like it's OK running disk-check.

I am guessing that something is repeatedly querying a blocked domain and causing pixelserv-tls to create an abnormal number of threads, eventually exhausting memory. You might best see this by installing htop from Entware.

I had a slight similar experience here:

Hi all! Its been a while since I've been in here :) Hope you all are doing great and are safe during these difficult times. That being said, I was excited to come across the YouTube ad blocking beta feature in Diversion. I activated it and it seems to have installed fine. Has anyone had any luck with it though? I know it said it may take a while. It's been 2 days now but I still see ads.

It a hit and missed feature for some people. I get reduce in-video ads (mark by yellow lines in the video progress) in Youtube. Ads in front of videos don't seem get blocked. This testing in course of 3 months with diversion and pihole. Some forum also mention to block outgoing communication to youtube as well.

So I noticed my steam downloads were slower than usual. As soon as I turn off diversion it slowly climbs up the 7-8 Mb/s.

Switching from large to standard blocklist seems also fix the issue, just as if I turned off diversion so it seems to be something with the large blocklist. I do have the alternate blocklist setting setup so it isn't a huge issue but I was just wondering if this is just me or if anyone else has this issue?

Side note about the help information when setting up the email in Diversion. The correct smtp for iCloud now is: smtp.mail.me.com port 587 and using the --insecure protocol. Thanks for updating when possible @thelonelycoder

While it may not be perfect, for many people it reduces the amount of YouTube ads, therefore it's still a valuable feature to have and to keep enabled - as long as it doesn't break any other aspect of YT functionality (which is probably on a case-by-case basis; depends on factors such as your individual ISP, etc).

Which youtube ads are supposed to be blocked, the preroll video ads or banner ads some video's have? For me the banner ads are blocked but leave an empty box with an x to close. The preroll ads are totally unaffected as far as I can tell.

The feature is called "experimental YouTube video ads blocking". That should explain it.

I meant my question to be purely innocent so I know if I'm getting the expected results. Any snark from my side would be meant for the over-aggressive advertisers that destroy the websurfing experience, not the people that are helping to make it better. Besides that, I asked the question without due research and found my answer right after posting it, on the Diversion faq. So, don't mind the nevermind.

I see after installing diversion, some websites are blocked or not reachable. Only after disabling the diversion, I am able to open.

Can some one guide me ?

Use the follow dnsmasq option outlined on this helpful site, to whitelist anything being blocked that you would prefer not be blocked.

Hi, Thanks for this great adblocker. I joined the forum in the hope of getting some help. I have diversion setup and working. But I am stuck with how to get adblocking working when using a VPN and I had a couple of questions. I did look at the diversion website, and the FAQ section does mention using a VPN. But the link is giving me 500.

I am using nord VPN on the router.

What settings do I need to make, to have diversion block my ads?

My second query is - should/could I use a DNS filter on the LAN and should I use a privacy protocol on the WAN? I know these are preferences. But I guess I am asking what good practice might be, when trying to configue the adblocking and VPN together? Should I use Nords DNS or perhaps cleanbrowsing. Any and all help, much appreciated.

Thanks to thelonelycoder and all you good folk here.

There's a thread dedicated to Pixelserv. May help you understand and make a decision for your network.
