DSL-AC88U Firmware update

Hi,
Ive been having connectivity problems over the last few weeks with the wi-fi signal completely dropping out. Im wondering if a firmware update may solve this.
My problem is all of the firmware updates are in .trx format and my router will only recognise .w format files.
Any help greatly appreciated.
