Hi, I'm not sure if this is an issue that is specific to the TMobile AC1900 (AC68U) or if it is a configuration issue or if it is a bug in update 3 of the fork.

I posted this on another thread that is specific to the TMobile flavor of this router and someone else there seems to be seeing the same issue. Rather than cross-posting, I thought I would seek feedback from you guys by pointing out my post:

The command screen was removed from all the builds due to security concerns a while ago. You need to use SSH/telnet to access the command line now.

Putty or WinSCP can provide a user interface and are popular programs that are also used.

Ugh, sorry for the dumb question and thanks for letting me know. I had tried using telnet/putty after I couldnt figure out the CMD page but I can't tell if the region & transmit power settings stuck. In GUI, it still only lets me enter a max power of 200.

Same here, also using TMobile AC1900 and update 3 of fork, when I click tools page it eventually goes to a white/grey background and blacktext saying "Settings have been updated. Web page will now refresh.
Changes have been made to the IP address or port number. You will now be disconnected from TM-AC1900.
To access the settings of TM-AC1900, reconnect to the wireless network and use the updated IP address and port number."

I flashed the latest 376.47 firmware, eveyrthing works, but when I try to flash back to the fork update 3, can't get to the router page, and only the white/grey page i mentioned above showed up....

Also flashed the update 1 (no update 2 download available..) and same thing, tools page gives a white/grey update page and no more access to router...

Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

I'm sorry I missed that you were attempting to load this fork on the TMobile AC1900. While the hardware is the same, this code was done well before the TMobile version was available and is missing the code that defines that device type. Therefore, the fork will have sections that will not work (and there are no plans to add the support). You'll need to go with Merlin's official latest.

I also have the T mobile router and am running v3. The tools page loads fine for me. Going by the slickdeals thread its a problem that only affects some.

Everything else seems fine as well, though I've only been running it a day so far.

I saw your post in the other thread and must admit, I was surprised. Do you remember the sequence of events when you loaded the code (did you you go straight to the fork or load another version first? did you do a factory reset? do you have the JFFS partition enabled, and did you enable it before or after loading the code? )

Also, could you post the results of the following:

nvram get bl_version
nvram get odmpid
nvram get model
nvram get productid
nvram get wps_modelnum

commands are case sensitive.....use lower case, ie nvram set....

alas, that's not the problem. I capitalized the nvram in this posting but used the lower case in the command.
I used these commands:

nvram set pci/1/1/ccode=#a
nvram set pci/1/1/regrev=0
nvram set pci/2/1/ccode=#a
nvram set pci/2/1/regrev=0
nvram set regulation_domain=#a
nvram set regulation_domain_5G=#a
nvram set wl0_country=#a

nvram set wl0_country_rev=0
nvram set wl0_reg_mode=off
nvram set wl1_country=#a
nvram set wl1_country_code=#a

It will make possible:
Channels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 at 2,4GHz, power up to 200mW.
Channels 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 100, 104, 108, 112, 116, 120, 124, 128, 132, 136, 140, 149, 153, 157, 161, 165 at 5GHz, power up to 200mW.

not found on every input.
 
All these problems seem similar to issues on the N series routers when the jffs partition size didn't match the code load being used. It resulted in a lot of strange issues. As Merlin pointed out in his release notes...

Important: The JFFS2 partition layout has changed on the RT-AC56 and RT-AC68. If you have stored any file in this partition, make sure you make a backup of its content before flashing 376.44 (or any newer version)!

It may be that going back and forth between my fork and a 376.xx build is having problems handling the reformated jffs. Could someone having problems with the TMobile router try the following procedure.

via SSH/telnet:

Code:
mtd-erase2 nvram
mtd-erase2 jffs2
reboot

After the reboot, reload the fork code
Do a factory reset

You'll need to setup from scratch, re-enable the jffs partiton and restore any scripts/configs in the jffs partition from a backup

not found on every input.

I reread your original post, and it's posting a '-ash' error....I believe this indicates you are missing a link from 'sh' to 'ash' and have a corrupt code load (when I try an invalid command it is reported by -sh).

Edit....one other thought....if you are executing as a script, you do have the shebang as the first line? #!/bin/sh

Please try the procedure in my previous post but substitute 'mtd-erase -d' for 'mtd-erase2', as it looks like you have an N66 based on the commands you are trying to execute.

If the mtd-erase commands fail, my best suggestion would be to use the firmware restoration utility to try and reload the code image.

(Note: You should update your signature with your router model and code load to make it easier for other to help).

Hi, I am fairly/completely new to all of this, can someone suggest whether i should use 374.44 or 374.43. It will be my first time flashing a custom firmware on the AC68U & don't feel particularly confident in my ability to discern which is best to choose at this point. Thanks

UPDATE: in fact let me change my question entirely since it appears there are even newer versions than the two i inquired about, of all available builds which would be the best to use for the AC68U and how should i go about identifying this myself in the future? Thanks again

I think I had a similar issue (because I erased the NVRAM ?) -- I basically just jumped directly to one of the GUI web pages -- http://192.168.1.1/Advanced_WAdvanced_Content.asp I think, and by filling in fields and 'apply'ing I was able to get the NVRAM setup again and all seems OK now.

I have RT-N66U.
What about range/signal strength between this fork and last sdk5 builds (e.g. RT-N66U_3.0.0.4_374.36_beta1-sdk5)?

I've searched for some comparison in this thread but I haven't found any.

Did you really change your router address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.145? The prompts you are getting don't look correct for connecting to the router....what is SynoEdmedia?
