Hello John, using the current version of your fork with my n66u and everything is working great! :)

Any idea if you can integrate fq_codel into the QOS system of our routers? I hear it solves the problem of bufferbloat.

Thanks and keep up the great work. We really appreciate everything you're doing here.

Signal is not a good way to judge. Instead, run throughput tests. You can have lower signal strength but the reliability & bandwidth may have actually increased or be unchanged.
I know, but without a connection there is no throughput.

The AC68U 5 GHz is currently set to 195 Tx power and there are two rooms on the same floor as the router that can't pick up this network.

The N66U 5 GHz is set to 150 Tx power and with the router in the same place as the AC68U the same rooms register at least a 1 bar signal on the same devices that get nothing with the AC68U.

I expected the higher spec and more expensive AC68U to perform at least the same as the N66U, not worse.

Hi there maybe I missed it, but after I changed the settings a stated below, on a Asus RT-N66U

nvram set pci/1/1/ccode=US
nvram set pci/2/1/ccode=US
nvram set wl0_country_code=US
nvram set wl1_country_code=US
nvram set regulation_domain=US
nvram set regulation_domain_5G=US
nvram commit

the 2.5Ghz is set to US but the 5Ghz is set to Q2. Is there difference and what are the consequences?

With my RT-N66U, the upgrade from 15E3 to 16E1 was drama free.

Is it true, the wifi part dont change in the upgrades, im on 14E and only on fork for better and stabil wifi.

So no need for upgrade for me.... Or do i ?

I would have a look through the release notes and see what has been fixed, changed and added since your version to the latest one and then decide if you want to upgrade.

installed V16E1
seems to be running fine.

@MarkyPancake
take a look at page one of this thread.

@SuperFly74
going from 14E to 15E i noticed a little drop in wifi range.
however after a couple of days the level is up to what it was, same goes for 16E1

i think this has someting to do with the way mimo works(looking for the best possible route)

AFAIK, the WiFi drivers have been the same since this fork began.

That's correct, the wireless drivers haven't changed, and I really don't have an explanation for this phenomenon. Maybe something gets reset with respect to radar detection/DFS channel interference on 5GHz that needs to sort itself out? There are a lot of NVRAM variables used by the system for wireless that aren't well documented.

I'm just wondering if somebody setup 68U as bridge mode on 5 AC. Can I also have 68U act as wifi extender on both bands or on 2.4 at least?

Thanks

Hi John

Do you plan to update minidlna to version 1.1.5, like in 378.56 from Merlin ?

Thanks
Right now, no. It requires some changes to the shared libraries, and last time I tried I ended up with a boot loop on the MIPS routers. What is it about 1.1.5 that you need?

Sorry but , @john9527 i was searching fw for AC3200 . but merlin didnt support all wireless channel and tx power settings. And also need option for changing regulation mode to US or somekind. Because my wifi is dropping on my mac when my mac search and found another router by neighbor that broadcast the US regulation. So its dropped. And need reconnect. Its annoying when i dl a large file cuz its canceled it. So if u no support it. Can u guide me to where i can get the fw with the features? Thx soo much :)

Edit : and why i can make it better with my mac. Cuz i can set the broadcast interval to 50 and it will be seen first by my mac :) thx

Nothing special .. Just to keep in sync with the versions.

It seems 1.1.5 is scan more files as 1.1.3 in the same media folder.

Anyway... If it breaks something, let`s keep 1.1.3.

Thanks

John, any word on the upper limit for storage capacity with the N66u on this fw? I have a 1TB for now which has filled up. Plan on adding 1 or 2TB in the second USB.

What is the syntax to list all DHCP leases within a terminal session

I don't know that one, but to get the static list it's nvram get dhcp_staticlist, so I guess it will be something like this. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along soon.
