New Around Here
Dear all I hope you can help.

Here is the situation. I live in a Service Apartment. The Complex has Wireless Internet that you connect to using the browser to the Complex's Web-Page (Similar to a lot of Hotels now). The problem is that I want to connect my Amazon Echo (no browser) to the Internet. I thought I could wire my dd-wrt router to my laptop, use the internal laptop's wireless to get to the hotel then pass it through the laptop to the router and out to the Echo. I thought it would be as simple as using bridging and/or internet sharing but it's doesn't seem to work.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

Hmm... at least it's not like GoogleHome or ChromeCast - those have some disturbing behaviors when the home network that they were associated is not available...

(they go into vacation mode, which means they turn into an AP, with no WPA/WPA2 - which is a bit scary from a security perspective... as someone with the appropriate knowledge and skill can hijack them)

Wonder what happens with Echo when the previously associated network is not found?

If the Echo doesn't see it's network, it just says "I'm having trouble connecting to the Internet" But, the Echo is very simple to re-configure to a new network.

If it's similar to a hotel system, then you probably need something like a travel router that handles these sort of things better.
