How to get rid of this notification?

I enabled Samba for my external HDD which contains movies and I set it up for access from anyone on the network without a password. Now I have that bell icon shown above constantly flashing and is bugging the living hell out of me. How do I get rid of it? I don't want to set a password for sharing my movies on my network.

Use a small Post-It note on your screen to cover the offending icon.

Why not just enable the password? You'll only need to set it once on each device, not every time you access the shares. You could even set up a second account with restrictions for those you don't fully trust.
