My httpd crashes on some pages but not others.
  • I can reload index.asp every few seconds without problem.
  • If I go to ParentalControl.asp the httpd process dies a few seconds later. (Parental controls is OFF.)
  • If I go to Advanced_DHCP_Content.asp the httpd process dies a few seconds later.
I'm using 380.64 on an RT-N66U. I have plenty of nvram unused, CPU utilization is low, tmpfs has plenty of free space, and restarting the router has not helped.

I'd prefer not to restore factory default and then manually re-setup the router unless that's the only way to recover. (If I have to re-setup the router, I'll probably buy a 2nd router, set it up, and then swap it for the current router. My family would pitch a fit if I took the router offline for half a day to redo setup.)

Any suggestions as to how to debug this would be appreciated.

Well, I checked syslog.log and there was nothing from httpd. I tried killing, then manually running httpd with redirected stdout+stderr and it issued no messages when it died.

I discovered that my USB drive failed. I had traffic reporting software on it. It is peculiar that the failed USB drive affected some pages but not others -- particularly the Parental Controls page which I'm not using. I reset factory default and that seems to have fixed httpd.

Sadly, I'll probably spend 2 weeks getting my OpenVPN running correctly again. It always takes me longer than I think it should, even when I remember how long it took the last time!
