Long Term Support - Asuswrt-Merlin Router List

I also found an EBR63 for an OK price

This router is the same hardware as RT-AX3000 V2. BCM6756 with 2x integrated 2-stream radios. Entry-level hardware.

What do these business models lack feature wise compared to the consumer models?

Seem like they offer more features and a new WebUI with customizable widgets. Still the same Asuswrt and AiMesh underneath.

Thanks for that info

Thanks for the information. Very interesting about them having more features. I think I will pass on them, though, and look for something better hardware wise.

What are your thoughts on the TUF-AX4200 and TUF-AX6000. Both have just currently gone on special on Amazon AU making the value better than the EBR63. They seem better hardware wise than the EBR63? They're both using older firmware, though, and I'm not sure how much support is left with them. Neither are on the EoL list, but I wonder if they're more with the non-pro models RT-AX86U, RT-AX88U etc. as far as remaining support goes?

Both MediaTek based devices, may outlive many other models since they both have OpenWrt support, very ugly though and I wouldn't touch them just because of the way they look, especially TUF-AX6000. The designer must be fired.

Asus EBG19P + EBA63 is exactly the same price as Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Ultra + U6 Mesh. Sorry, but Asuswrt is still quite far from UniFi OS, devices look much better and are all better quality Qualcomm hardware. What for Asus is experimental on a new market is where UniFi starts in minimum configuration. Unless feeling adventurous there is no reason to choose ExpertWiFi.

Yeah, they don't look that great, but then again, I was looking at the GT-AX6000 and that looks really bad. I'm still iffy on buying it due to the looks of it. I actually found on Ebay a New Zealand seller/store that has it for a good price. I contacted Asus to ask if it will work OK in Australia and the support person said it would (he couldn't tell me about the wireless channels/power levels, though), but we do use the same power plug/power in AU and NZ. The price was much cheaper than the AU model/region ones. He said the main thing is I can't get warranty for it in AU, but that is fine. I've asked the seller if it can be returned to them if there is ever a warranty issue. I'll see what he says.

As for these MediaTek models (I have read Asus have MediaTek & Broadcom models), what is the difference between the Broadcom models? Why do Asus have the two lines? Are they just cheaper/not as good as the Broadcom models?
