I've recently installed Merlin on my new RT-AC87U

The wierdness I am seeing is in network MAP and looking at the DHCP reservations.

Often when I click on Network Map/View List it shows nothing. If I repeatedly close my browser and try again eventually it will show the list.

When I look at the DHCP reservations, it's the same. They don't show up. Same resolution

I'm using Firefox 37.0.2. I have adblock installed. Windows 7 x64

Why does this happen?

Now where did I leave that big stick....

Clearing my browser cache did nothing.

I'll be looking at a new browser. Firefox went off the rails after 37.0.2. Perhaps Palemoon...

Yes I can. I didn't have it on, nor the Resolving of IPs (because of "Can considerably slow down the display").

am also not collecting per IP statistics for the same reason.

I don't know if this is relevant: I have 10 PCs/Laptops, 2 PS3's, 7 mobile phones, 3 Smart TV's, 3 Smart Blu-ray players, an ATA, a wired printer and 4 smart managed switches. Our internet usage would be classed as very high.

BTW: I noticed that the CPU seems to run between 75 and 80 degrees celcius. Is this normal?

Looks like it's normal temperature (so they say). Someone (including me) put some active cooling to bring temperature down to 60C.
But for couple of days (without cooling) my 87R was running at 77C and did not give me any problems... you know 60C is better temps, so I just stick an external fan to it.

PS: cleaning my Firefox cache helps to bring up those missing UI elements from RT-AC87R screens ... have no idea why, but it helps every time.

Sorry, been away for a few weeks.

The CPU is now consistently running in the mid 80's and we haven't even gotten to the hottest part of summer yet. Can I plug in a small USB fan to the router?

The router is mounted on a wall in a well ventilated open area.

Clearing the cache seems to work sometime and not others.

I'm seeing the same behavior with the DCHP table, network Services, URL filter list as well as the client list. I initially thought the router was losing the DHCP reservations, but all of the IPs clients were getting were consistently correct, so it's just that the router is not showing the UI details.

Same issues in Palemoon.

as far as router CPU heat, 80 Celsius (176F) seems high to me, but you may have ambient air temps in the 30s for all I know...and you know that the more it gets used, the more heat gets generated, right? If you're THAT concerned, perhaps it may be time to have a look at a home server for your network and turning your router into a simple AP. And maybe getting another AP if you need to cover a significant amount of real estate wirelessly...which sounds likely. but the number of smart switches implies you prefer wired connections...hmmm...

do you have any old PPC macs in your...uh, retired fleet? Try TenFourFox, also a fork of Firefox...works brilliantly on my old macs (3xG5 and G4 PowerBook)
but if you're running more modern machines (Mac or not), I stick by Opera and brave for browser recommendations.

Change is difficult, but sometimes it's for the best...

You would have to take it down from the wall mount but something like this will do wonders for your temps.

I picked one up today and my R7000 normally runs at about 70c

Now sitting on this its at 53c

I have the router sitting on a shelf. on the wall. I'll see if I can find something that fits.

FWIW, We're in the middle of summer, and my temps are always over 85c, and at worst, 93c, with ambient temps no more then 28c

But I have other problems, which seem to be router related, so I don't know how long I'll have this router.

I know you're south of the equator...PM me (is that possible on here?) and we can figure that out when you're ready.
