Missing devices in network map?

2 brand new RT-AC66U B1 routers, one as wireless router, one as repeater. Both on Asus-Merlin 384.19. They are about 120' apart, link rate 175 Mbps, -65dBm.

The router lists 1 local device but does not list the repeater or any of its connected devices on the network map. The repeater indicates a specific number of clients but displays one less on the network map.

Oddly - a printly local to the repeater is inaccessible there but shows up on the router's network map.

ASUS support provides canned responses that ignore the problem. Thank you for your assistance.

120' apart might be a bit far.

As for the client list, it is mostly imperfect and this could be more true when using a repeater. I would not rely on it.

My friend have the same issue on RT-AC1200G+. Support from ASUS dont care about this long time ago.

You should be using the "repeater" as an AiMesh node. And to echo another sage, 120 ft is a bit far. Try to run a cable between the two and watch them fly!

120 feet is not a problem. We have a 100 Mbs internet connection. The repeater is getting 175 Mbs at -65 dBM. AiMode does not connect at this distance.

Performance is not the problem. The repeater network map shows the router - the router network map does not show the repeater. arp -a shows all connected 2.4 devices.

You have to set up the node within a few feet of the router. Then move the node. If it connects as a repeater it should connect as a node. Worth a try. Save all your settings before trying AiMesh so it will be easy to go back just-in-case.

Tried setting up as a mesh node. Wired devices ran a bit slower . 5gHz devices were barely able to connect. Probably too great a range between router and node for 5 gHz. Switched back to repeater mode and everything works fine.

Except for the idiot neighbor who is running devices on channels 3, 7, and 10. WTF
