I recently bought this router, it came with .260 firmware.
Built-in checker for new fw version says there is no new firmware.
Could it be a bug in .260?

Hi,

The build-in FW checker simply does not work!

Go to the homepage and download the latest firmware manually, un-zipp it and install it locally.
You have the choice of the "older", but stable .272 firmware or the "newer" .372 but might give issues (depending on your other wireless devices).

Or you avoid the gambling and you go for the latest Merlin-Version of the firmware, which is rock solid! :)

With kind regards
Joe

Thanks Joe! :)
I will try.
Could it also be that this firmware will add summer time option?
Because there is none in System settings section.

Well, the summer time thing is a mess in the firmware. So far nobody is volunteering to clean up the mess...

I have (as many others) set the daylight saving on/off timing manually in the firmware and now it works for me.

With kind regards
Joe

PS.: As you are setting up the router, you should be aware of the need to clear NVRAM and start fresh with the setup after updating to the latest firmware...

well i installed it and can now connect (still at 40hz) at 450mbs instead of 216 through a floor and a solid brick wall. I just had to check it was on the Asus and not the Netgear that's sat 6 foot away as an access point.

And yes, 5 GHz 40 MHz is still broken for me as well in this release.

Is this in an intel client? Did asus release newer wireless drivers with this firmware compared to .354's? Sorry, have I installed the firmware I would have known the answers but I do not want to risk marriage with my wife, she hates the blue dancing lights.:)

+1. All Apple clients (MBP, iMac). The .271 works as inteded. Maybe next time.

If .372 have the same drivers as of .354/370 then yes the 5GHz @40 is broken for intel client cards. All 5 GHz apple products(2 iphone 5, 1 mini ipad) in my household works though. What are you having problems with the apple clients you have?

Fwiw no 5G problems here with Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or Galaxy S3

I'm using a galaxy S4 and connected at 150mbps on 5ghz connection

There are problems connecting these devices to the AP at 5 GHz. If that happens I have to disable and reenable the Wi-Fi adapter in order to get a connection. Above that I noticed massive bandwith drops using the 5 GHz band (on my iMac the lowest bandwith is 14 mbit/sec. compared to 108 mbit/sec. with the .271 firmware, same RSSI).

Are you talking about connection rate or bandwidth speed? If the latter, have you tried different channels?

Nvram ??

I installed Merlins latest firmware dated 7/11/13 and all seems ok but I did do a factory reset after the upgrade now what is the NVRAM router seems fine is this something that must be done. Also I noticed merlins version the connected devices don't work after you hit refresh just keeps spinning 260 and 272 firmware did not do this. Any advice.

I was referring to the connection speed. And no, until now I did not try different channels because I did not feel the need to as there are no other clients around at the 5 GHz band according to my Wi-Fi scanner. Plus there is no problem with the same settings using the .271 firmware.

Hi,

You need to wait until the spinning is finished.
This was extra added by Merlin to make sure you wait for the result...
