Damn. Kudos on figuring this one out.Had an almost identical story. The "culprit" was an unshielded microphone cable picking up a local radio station combined with voice-to-text recognition.

Yes, it was pretty strange as the system would work fine for a while (when the radio station had music) but would "start typing" at other times. The difficulty was really that the speech recognition software was crap. If it had worked better, it may have been able to type proper words and sentences rather than pretty much random characters, in which case it could have been obvious if it typed "here is the KABC 10 o'clock news" or something. LolDamn. Kudos on figuring this one out.
Do you plan to restore any of your data from the old computer onto the new one? If your router is compromised, how will a new router avoid the same fate? How do you connect to the internet? Are you on a LAN? Do you have a VPN and robust firewall? You don't even know what problem you have - you only know what you see. Just because the Sun comes up when the rooster crows doesn't mean the rooster causes the sunrise. There's a process to get to the bottom of things.how would it not solve the problem thats the most extreme method of removing malware?
no i dont have anything important on it, by following basic safety measures when online, im on a lan why does it matter? i stated i have a dream machine which has a firewall ill buy another router with a firewall i dont need to know what the problem is only to know that there is one, funny how you cant answer the question with a simple yes that will resolve the problem almost as if you dont want me to solve it.Do you plan to restore any of your data from the old computer onto the new one? I mean no disrespect and no one is trying to change your mind. I have a buddy that argues with his plumber and gets flipped off - my dad was like that. What I could never understand though... if your car overheats on a country road and the mechanic tells you that your fan belt broke, do you insist that you only need a new radiator?
Take my advice, if you think you've been hacked or whatever... ask how you would find out. You'll get better mileage.
Don't listen to me - you do you, just trying to be helpful.
You have already made up your mind this is what you're going to do. Your question was "how I could install these items without getting hacked again". To answer that question we need to know how you got hacked in the first place and which devices were affected. Without knowing that we can't answer your question.funny how you cant answer the question with a simple yes that will resolve the problem...
It’s your money; up to you how you want to spend it. The folks here know what it takes to stay secured. Buying a new equipment — unless it’s outdated, not fit for purpose, broken — isn’t a fix in the medium term. Because, the fundamental problem remains unsolved, risking another event. This is what you need to try and minimise.funny how you cant answer the question with a simple yes that will resolve the problem
Yes, funny how you cant answer the question with a simple yes that will resolve the problem almost as if you dont want me to solve it.
the fundamental problems are resolved because now i know basic cyber security safety. If an intruder has an access point buying a new router with a firewall and pc will 100% remove the access point from the intruder couldn't you agree thats the most effective way unless i clicked on something or re connected a device that has malware/spywareIt’s your money; up to you how you want to spend it. The problem is i dont know how to do that, all i can do on a pc is click a search engine and google stuff lol i tried learning how to do some of those things and im not smart enough thats why im picking this route. please just respond to this yes or no would this method i stated fix my problem yes or no?@routerinfection
If you're not going to take our advice then why should we invest time in your issue?
You don't need to spend $$$$ to fix this.
1. Hard reset your router to remove any access from someone externally and shut off remote control / services upon setup
2. Format your Drive to remove any potential infections and reload Windows / Linux / any OS to make it functional again
Simple as that.
I’m glad you solved the problem.the fundamental problems are resolved because now i know basic cyber security safety. Then you're an ideal candidate for a Chromebook. The problem is i dont know how to do that,
yes or no and what would a chromebook doThen you're an ideal candidate for a Chromebook.
ill take that as a yes, i was told to configure the new firewall somewhere else could i do it at home or would someone's elses network be better to configure it on?I’m glad you solved the problem.
I’m sorry if and unless I have missed the details, we have no view of your network topology, devices, how the intruder got in in the first place; without these, there is no way we can be sure you fixed the issue. Even if you have, there is no certainty it won’t in the future.
The intent is minimise the risk. This is what we all do because I cannot guarantee my network will be safer in the future.
Buying a new router and a PC for every breach isn’t a solution for most of us here. Thx for reply.
so if i take my pc and router to best buy and say these things belowFix all your problems for under $300.
If you don't know how to do it then take to Best Buy and have someone do it for you for $100.
what about my printer if its hacked can it reinfect my pc network? they can also be infectedYup. Or they'll sell you replacements if you decide to continue down that road.
