Hello All,

I'm currently having a weird issue with my R7800 running the latest voxel firmware.

If I use the Netgear app and run a speedtest for the router line in speed it gives 74mb but if I use any device and run a speed test for transmitted speed it struggles to provide 20mb. Ive tried the built in 2.4ghz and 5ghz WiFi networks with an android device next to the router, I've tried a Windows PC on Ethernet and multiple devices via a BT whole home mesh network and nothing can go above 20mb? It's like the output speed from the router is limited??

I've checked and qos isn't activated.

I've tried a complete factory reset.

Any ideas people? It's beaten me at the minute.

Is Beamforming enabled? Can test with or with out MIMO only if you have MIMO supporting devices.
Whats the R7800 connected to modem wise? Mfr and model?

Any other wifi neighbors near by?

What channels are you using?
Try manual channels 1, 6, or 11.
Ensure WMM is enabled.

What is the ISP Speed UP and down you pay for?

Hello fella, beam forming is off, Its happens to anything that's attached to the router, wired or wireless, it acts like it's speed is capped.

There are no neighbours, we are remote.

I'm I'm on Vodafone fibre, 76up and 19down.
I'm using a openreach modem hg612 into the R7800... I also have some BT whole home mesh wifi discs to increase the wifi. I've tried with the mesh system on or off, I've tried wifi direct from the router as it's normally turned off... Nothing seems to help?

Did you turn the Wi-Fi WMM off?? Don’t turn it off

Are you using the same SSID and password as your old router? Try forget the old Wi-Fi and reconnct again.

Is all the Wi-Fi devices has the same issue? Try the speed on another device to try to see if the router limit the speed or the device itself.

I don't normally use the routers own wifi, I tend to use the mesh system for wifi, I only switched it on so I could test to see if the fault was with the mesh system or not.

Like I said the fault is with any device, even wired pc still caps out in the low 20mbs despite the router showing 74mbs sync speed.

I'm debating trying openwrt to see if it improves things.

If you get lower wired speed on the LAN-side of your R7800 than what the R7800 measures over the WAN, forget wifi. It is in your router.
I would recommend to load stock firmware, do a factory reset (like coming out of the box, new) and retest. If still bad results, send the R7800 in for a repair/replacement.

Beamforming should be enabled.

Let us know if putting stock FW on and doing a reset results in any differences. Wired results should be to spec for your ISP speeds you pay for, if there not, then there is a problem with your router HW. The R7800 is rated for 1Gb ISP speeds on wired connections.

Try unchecking the option that says "Enable 20/40 MHz Coexistence" in your WiFi settings. If the PHY rate does not increase, then re-check that box.

If you are stuck on the 2.4 GHz band and the phone has a single stream radio on that band, then a 20MHz channel width, should give you around 45Mbps of throughput.

Seen other post about disabling 802.11k (fast roaming) helped them.

I think im suffering from some ISP issues that ive been blaming on the R7800, my line speed is supposedly 76mbs but im struggling to get 20mbs, ive been in touch with vodafone who are my ISP and they got me to do a few tests, last one being put the router into the master socket, wipe the router to stock and have only one device connected via ethernet... then they wanted to do a ookla speedtest, this gave 58mbs so still slow but nothing like ive been suffering with however if i do any other speedtest, fast, ofcom etc it struggles to get 2.5mbs to 20mbs at best... however upload is always 17-18mbs regardless of download speeds. So ive thrown the ball into there court to check it out...

So im putting my trial of openwrt on hold for now... voxels take on stock is so much more user friendly..

Yep, ISP modem and services should be ensure they are working well first. Routers depend on ISP services being good.
