I'm on 386.7_2, I believe this issue was also present on 386.7.

When Dual WAN is turned on the Primary WAN: is stuck on Hot-Standby. The secondary WAN is Connected. If primary and secondary are switched in settings the connection will stick with the secondary on other ISP. If Dual WAN is turned off thing seem to work as expected. Let me know any information I can provide to help find and fix the issue.

Update: when I pull the plug on the secondary is does fail over to the primary... when I plug in the secondary the router now stays on the primary...

Now as if by magic it's now working correctly. I did change the network monitoring settings, I don't remember ever setting this before but maybe that was my issue.

No it doesn’t work correctly. It works only when you physically pull the plug. There is a script to fix Asuswrt Dual WAN, look around.
