Care yo explain? My ac66u is a real workhorse. Streams video, transfers large files from multiple pc's, etc all without a hitch. Routing performance is also really good

Sure. Routing capabilities are way sub par as soon as you want something extra like QOS or VPN or whatever. Vlan capabilities are as good as non existing.

Ah, ok. I don't use these things so it doesn't affect me. But from what I use, it's the best router I've had so far.

Any idea guys when the new Asus 3200 router is due out?

The R8000 and the AC87 are not comparable at all :)

They work with completely different technologies and each router serves a different purpose.

The AC87 has only two radios and can use MU-MIMO (although no clients exist that support it, yet). But it has the highest possible AC link speed (1700 mbit, although, no clients support that yet either).

The R8000 (and the upcoming Asus AC3200, which is comparable to the R8000) uses three radios and Xstream (which is supported on all clients, old and new). However, the link speed on AC is "limited" to 1300 mbit.

If I had a guess maybe sometime qtr 4 of this year, but could be sooner. It's a guessing game really, and no one really gonna be able to give you a date of release. Until Asus releases that info, I wouldn't expect it this month though. With the release of there newest router the RT-AC87R/U.

I hope not anytime soon . until they fix their fw and make sure that they have every feature of the router running probably . We don't want the same mistake they have done with ac87

Aside a few firmware bugs, the AC87R has been working great for me thus far. No complaints whatsoever. Longer range and faster 5GHz wireless than any previous router that I've owned and used (R7000, WRT1900AC and the AC68W).

Once the firmware matures in the next couple of months this router is a flat-out BEAST.

Nah, this is the good looking one, the pretty one is the Asus AC1900 models and the really ugly one will be the 8 antenna version.

I want the ugly!!!

Yes, since the beginning i said that was an error from ASUS, RT-AC87U was not even available on their web page when it was almost out to the market and RT-AC3200 was already there, so they removed the page because we only see RT-AC3200 in a few months now, no sense to be there when it's "far" away to be released.
