The updated spdmerlin that uses the Ookla CLI is capable of speeds above 250 Mbps. I would try different test servers as some are faster than others. @JGodfrey82 what model router are you using?
spdMerlin: Speedtest results - Download: 905.09 Mbps (data used: 1.1 GB) - Upload: 912.24 Mbps (data used: 1.1 GB)

With AMTM builded into 384.15, I am experimenting more scripts :), I am new to spdMerlin (v3.2.3) ... I am getting about half of my subscribed ISP speed :(. I have set my ISP Server as the preferred server. Is there something obvious that I missed?

This is the result when I run Speedtest App on my Mac, where it is closer to my subscribed 1 gbps fibre connection.

It's a known problem that spdMerlin only works reliably to ~250Mbps. You're getting full speed on your Mac that is connected to the internet through your router, right? So you're getting your full speed, just spdMerlin doesn't accurately show it. @Jack Yaz should probably note that somewhere more prominently.

OK, thanks ... I asked because I see the post #541 before me by doczenith1: " ... spdMerlin: Speedtest results - Download: 905.09 Mbps (data used: 1.1 GB) - Upload: 912.24 Mbps":), so trying to see if there is something obvious I might have missed. Thanks.

how can it be spd issue since spd uses speedtest cli command and it's just a "gui" for it?
I suppose spdMerlin runs on the router whereas Speedtest App for my case runs on MacBookPro that has relatively much more powerful resources. I have just deleted ntpMerlin.

i don't think it's about resources, just try other test servers
btw it uses /jffs/addons/spdmerlin.d/ookla/speedtest

I am using the same server on my ISP for both spdMerlin on RT-AX88U and Speedtest App on my Mac. Thanks.

spdMerlin uses SpeedTest CLI
If the speeds from this utility are significantly lower than those you see from the desktop app/browser test, the limiting factor will be your router's CPU. That being said, there is probably room for improvement/optimisation by the Ookla team in the CLI binary itself. Please direct feedback about speed issues to Ookla via the above link. There is nothing that I can do about them.

I have a mesh setup of 3x Ac68u running the latest 384.15.. I have no problem getting near 500mbit on my wired devices so it's strange that it's maxing at 200. I've tried all of the listed servers too.

v3.2.2 is now available
Please run option u a second time after updating, and then reboot if you are seeing multiple/missing tabs
Changelog:
Code:
WebUI improvements
Fixes tab duplication when updating in future
So somehow I messed up. After installing this and encountered multiple tabs I uninstalled spdmerlin then rm'd /www/user1 and user2 without checking here for a solution. Now I can't get get the speedtest tab to showup no matter how many times I reinstalled and reboot'ed my AC68U. Anyway to do a clean spdmerlin install or fix for this?

NVM... Just saw the addon menu on the sidebar.

Jack,
Thanks, just added my feedback to them :)

This is brilliant, thanks!

Is there any way to pull up this URL without going through the ASUS GUI? I'd like to view it from my OpenHAB HAB Panel.

Try different servers as suggested. The server that gives me 900+ via my Windows browser gives me 800ish using the CLI. The server that gives me 900+ with the CLI gives me 300ish using the browser. I have no idea why.

Here are my results from the exact same server using four different methods:
Windows 10 web browser: 296D/330U Ping 6ms
Windows 10 Speedtest App: 823D/894U Ping 7ms
Speedtest CLI via Windows command prompt: 948D/879U Ping 6ms
Speedtest CLI via spdmerlin: 931D/900U Ping 6ms

Is there any way to pull up this URL without going through the ASUS GUI? I'd like to view it from my OpenHAB HAB Panel.

Which URL?

Been trying to get this working on my AX88U but it's a no-go. I keep getting the same error on installation:

I know that the AX88U isn't on the supported list but thought I'd give it a go see. Any chance that it will be updated to enable us AX users to make use of this excellent addon? This is the only one I can't install.

@frooty did you try updating once more with 'u' and maybe an additional 'uf'? :)

Yes. I've also done a few "from scratch" installs too - format the USB & jffs partition - same result. If it helps, here's what I get if I try running a speed test:

Running in router mode? It looks like you have a whole mess of internet connectivity problems on the router.

Yes, router mode. It's connected to a Huawei B715 LTE router (in bridge mode).
It appears your router can't resolve the speedtest servers:
Code:
[2020-02-20 19:45:39.941] [error] Configuration - Couldn't resolve host name (HostNotFoundException)

I presumed that was because it won't install properly? According to the uptime monitoring addon my line is 100% & everything is working as it should, good speed (~120megs down) & no drop-outs even at peak times.
