thanks sanna for the feedback..

i am networking illiterate person hence everyone please forgive me if i am saying something stupid..

with the state of these routers and WiFi technologies we are in at the point in time, is it a norm that these technologies have not matured yet to the level that we won't have WiFi connect disconnect.. i mean i am standing at the same spot just 10 feet away from my AC5300 and i am getting this connect disconnect.. is it a norm to be accepted that yes my friend this is how it is, at the moment adjust yourself to it.. is that so.. these difficulties and challenges are more or less with all routers is it ? kind of tech limitation of the time we have reached so far and in future this will improve they are working on it ?

as i said, i am illiterate in networking hence please forgive me if i said something which is nonsense taboo but curious to understand..

No, it's not normal for devices to be disconnecting and reconnecting but it's also not uncommon given an unsuitable environment or poor configuration.

I have an RT-AC5300 and I'm primarily using it for VR streaming (Steam VR to Oculus Quest), which requires high throughput, low latency and a reliable/stable connection. This router more than accomplishes that.

Getting the best out of your wireless router does require some knowledge, namely the channel you choose and the best settings to match your devices. Stock settings quite often work well but if the airwaves are congested you'll have to be more particular about which channel you're on and what bandwidth you use.

I'd minimally suggest doing a wireless survey with the WiFiAnalyzer app. and maybe look up some tutorials for setting up/configuring a wireless router. Try and pick settings that match your devices.

no it is NOT common (only common with newer Asus firmwares), one reason I changed to an other manufacturer about year ago and stable all the day since then.
But if you need the extended features (possibility to use your own scripts) you wont have other possibilities with recent routers.

In addition to what @roguetr said you can also experience problems if you have multiple access points with the same SSID (e.g. repeaters, extenders, mesh) in close proximity. You can get into a situation where the client is constantly flip-flopping between the different access points. I suspect that might be what is happening with RedmiNote7 given the kernel messages.

Is it really more stable or are they just hiding the log messages? :)

No need to look at any logs for me, using WiFi clients 2G@40 and 5G@160MHz without any hickups for months without reboot on 4 routers (3 as mesh nodes 2x LAN and one over WiFi) is best valitadion for me.
And you can see all the time all clients how and where they are connected to or moving between bands and nodes and thats even correct.

I'm in a mesh (don't know if that's relevant) and I'm seeing tons of these WLCEVENTD messages also.

I'm glad you found a solution that works for you, that's the important thing.

In all honesty, my next router will probably be one of the Logic Supply NUCs advertised here running OpenBSD and pf. Because I can. :)
