Which Router Should I Buy I'm Getting Frontier Fiber

Question should I go for the
Asus RT-BE88U and take advantage of the
10 Gigabit SFP+ port
Just hate the amount of land ports it has wish it had less like on the RT-BE86U

Or do I just get the Asus RT-BE86U

AX86U Pro or AX88U Pro. Do you really need all the extra bandwidth? And, do you want to be a beta tester for WIFI 7?

What speed fibre are you getting? I have 5gb Frontier and run with a be96u, so I'm able to use that bandwidth. If you're getting 2gb or less, you could save some coin and buy a router with an appropriate sized wan and lan links. The 10gb is only going to be as good as your fastest uplink or local lan connections. Plus I'm finding WiFI 7 fairly flaky right now, so I have it shut off as well as MLO. It seems to be in it's infancy still.

Im getting their 1gig plan I already have the AX86U Pro which yes I know it's a good solid wifi 6 router, but my mind is telling me to upgrade because I'm getting brand new Internet never had Fiber...
So yeah I've been eyeing the RT-BE86U and RT-BE88U unfortunately....

Is Wi-Fi 7 really really really bad is it really still beta?

🤔

Your existing router can handle Gigabit ISP easily. If you want to feed Asus - get something very expensive like 2x GT-BE98 Pro and use them in 6GHz backhaul AiMesh. Your user experience improvement will be close to zero, but Asus will be happy.

What Tech9 is saying is Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS) is a real hazard in this environment. Get help quickly ! Usually the SO or Wife can terminate the issue ;-)

This is a common diagnosis in Ubiquiti community. People with home networks go overkill with rack mounted enterprise multi-core firewalls and multi-port switches like will run the entire neighborhood...
