Struggling with Asus ZenWiFi BE30000 aka 3 node BQ16 Pro bundle

Other than waiting for firmware, any ideas?

With the Stock settings, the Asus Radios are set to automatically pick the best Channel. It's possible upon your first boot that they did in fact pick a good channel, then at some point automatically switched to (what they perceived to be) a better channel.
  1. Do you recall what Channels were used upon first boot?
  2. What Channels are being used now?
  3. Have you performed a WiFi Survey to see what Channels other nearby Access Points are using?
  4. From there, consider assigning what "you" view as the best Channels.

Good suggestion but I should have mentioned all 2.4 devices have great signals, just no throughput and now that I think about it, everything connected right up on first boot but the cameras could not keep up. I just figure it needed awhile to find the best node per device.

This morning I tried a chat with Asus tech support & their system told me to use Bestbuy for support! I boxed it up & returned it. Too much money to hope they'll fix it all one day. I need it to work now. Got a TPLINK Deco 3 station for 1/3 of the Asus. The interface is smartphone only & extremely simple but it does have one really good feature the Asus lacks right now. Full speed, so far reliable, connection. Maybe the simplicity means less things to screw up.

That's crazy! I "get" that Best Buy has a special bundle of a 3-Pack Asus, but at the end of the day, it's an ASUS and ASUS should support it! I don't blame you for jumping ship!

Not to bash Best Buy and I don't for a minute think I'm an IT guru, but they have never impressed me. Fine for backing up a hard drive and reinstalling Windows but diagnosing a wifi problem probably related to a buggy firmware....Please! Another thing is you would hope ASUS would want the feedback. BB will not be releasing the next firmware! It really P'ed me off.....

Just wanted to follow up. The Deco just works. It has some things that I don't like but no deal breakers. For example, I don't see a way to split 2.4 & 5ghz but I was able to create a guest network with just 2.4. Another thing. You get a main, guest & IOT SSID. That's it. It's way more limited than any Asus I've own (been on Asus for over 10 years). But, it's refreshing to plug something in, spend 10 minutes setting it up and basically forget about it. I think this truly is for "regular" people and the Asus is more for the enthusiast that wants all fine-tuning of settings. I miss a web-based interface. I have cerebral palsy so typing on a keyboard is easier than a phone. But, if it is working, I don't see much need of looking at it. All I did extra was enable IPV6 for my Nest Protects and assign a few static addresses.

Probably not for people that enjoy tweaking settings as sort of a hobby. But. I have EVERYTHING on my internet. No internet...No TV! That goes over really well with the rest of the family!

So I am 99% sure the dnsmasq version on the be30000 is currently bugged. In my system logs I have noticed the dnsmasq service crashing and then once I apply Wan settings again without rebooting everytime and it kicks It back into gear. Hopefully asus fixes that mess outside of that it's been rock solid stable.

Could you please share the model of this Deco set? Thank you.

Maybe the simplicity means less things to screw up.

Many Qualcomm based Deco sets have mesh features built-in from the SoC manufacturer upstream. Usually work more reliably than AiMesh which is Asus software on top of what Broadcom have provided. Simplicity is indeed the design idea behind similar Nest, eero, Orbi, etc. products. They also adjust the mesh settings automatically in background without user interaction.

It is the BE11000

So far, it is quite literally plug & play.

This is an expensive set as well. You got it on 1/3 price compared Asus because of sale. Good for you though, enjoy! 👍

Not really. Normal price on Amazon is actually less than the sale price at BestBuy. They have it for $460. I just needed it right then to bring everything back online.

As @Stepalex stated... this update appears to be only for the "BQ16"... not the "BQ16 Pro".

I'm not seeing anything (within Router WebGUI or online support) yet for the BG16 Pro:
