Has Asus released any routers that have surpassed the RT-N66U yet?

i have tried several routers and have found that the rt-n66u to be the best of them all, i do not have any ac wifi enabled devices so have not tried the ac66u, unless you have ac devices it is not worth upgrading to the ac66u, the rt-n66u still gets very good reviews and i agree with that...

Updating RT-N66U Firmware via Wireless Connection?

posiedon, in my circumstances i have found that 3.0.0.4 271 is the best fw for me to use but from 270 to 276 i have found to be the best fw versions, i would not update your fw unless you are having a problem with the router

    Slow speed with N66U

as has been said by the other posters these routers do not seem to do well with cat5 cables, they just dont cut the muistard with the n66u, you need at least cat5e or better for the router to perform correctly

    New Release for .27X branch

i moved from a netgear dgnd 3700v2 to the saua rt-n66u and the asus has much better wireless range, the netgear was ok but not as good as the asus, my netgear had a problem with throughput on wired lan connections, thats why i changed

    Wireless drivers builds 270, 271, 276

i have found that 271 seems to have a slightly better throughput on 5ghz from the other end of my house, windows shows a connection speed of 162 to 243mbps on 271 while 276 has 121 to 162 mbps, this is the speed windows shows in the connection properties, my internet is a 76mbps connection and i...

    N66U - Massive underperformance on 2.4Ghz

i would lower the output power back down to either the default 80mW or a max of 100 mW, putting the power up so much actually worsens the wireless signal by introducing a lot of noise to the signal, it does not seem to help the wifi at all, my 2.4 is set at 80 and the 5ghz is set at 100, up to...

    Disappointed with 2.4GHz band performance

ok 3 days later and my rt n66u is still behaving properly with merlins 270_26b software, what was happening was the 2.4 band was dropping its output to 72mbps according to insidder and when i connected a client it showed as connecting at 72mbps, now it is staying at 216mbps so it seems merlins...

    Disappointed with 2.4GHz band performance

have had so many problems with this router and firmware, i eventually tried merlins 3.0.0.4 270 26b and found it to be the most stable so i would recommend you try that version, i had problems with the 2.4ghz band not putting enough power out but it seems good now with that firmware

    ASUS RT-N66U Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.372.1393

i just tried the new firmware but it dropped my 5ghz wifi badly, in my kitchen i was only getting about 20mbps on a speed test where i was getting 55ish with the 372 fw, i dropped back to 271 fw and it jumped straight up to 74ish so i will be staying with the 271 fw, my wifi adapter is a linksys...
