AC68 - USB throughput

How does one test the ISB throughput on AC68?

I have a usb 3 disk connected with ac68 and this router is connected via powerline to my rpi2. I tried playing a video file from the disk via smb but there was serious lag and i was unable to play the video smoothly. It was a 12 GB file.

How do I check which is the weakest link in the chain (routers usb performance, powerline or something else)

Not a solution, but have the same problem with an ac87u router. Couple a days ago everything worked fine, have both a HDd Connected to the usb 2 and 3 port. And could smoothly play 60 gbyte 4k movies. And now suddenly is lags/buffer every few seconds. I know it’s not the hard drives, if I connect them directly to my lg oled tv, the movies play perfectly. So what has just happened to the router I don’t know, and my dad have an ac68 to, and now he has the exactly same problem...

Just try playing a video file through smb from either a mobile device (with ES File Explorer) or a PC connected directly to the router in order to see if the issue lies on the PLC or the SMB server.

Know is not my tread, but I my case I have tried with wired connection, tried with pc, iPad and mobile. Same thing, lagging/buffering. And few days ago everything worked perfectly...

Have read somewhere that playing via dlna/upnp is better than SMB
