The GT-BE98 cannot be sold in North America for regulatory reasons, any shipped device sample might get rejected at the border. That's why Gnuton is taking care of it since he lives in Europe.

Are you doing this and Gnuton testing? I am a little worried what they produce may be different to your builds? Yours are easy to flash to and flash back to stock if required and work with many plugins.
Do the builds sit in your onedrive area when testing and same place as usual when released?

Gnutons are safe to use.

Could this feature be added later, maybe? Hoped for it, because of some pretty old Oppo players I have... no way to make them work without SMBv1 or NFS.

I don't know yet. It's unlikely, as it would require finding alternatives to busybox's mount.nfs and nfs-utils that would be compatible with the toolchain used by this platform. A quick look didn't find anything when I was troubleshooting the issue.

I may have misunderstood, could you please clarify? I thought you only get one GPL of 1GB from Asus and from that one particular version you create builds for all AC models (i.e. AC68U, AC88U, AC86U etc.)

Gnuton has been providing builds for his own list of models for years now. They are built and distributed by himself. They are a direct fork off my code.

Hi, sorry am new to these and have been blindly updating Merlin firmware on my ax6000. I just recently noticed that I’m on 3004 Merlin while Asus is on 3006. I read the corresponding thread on why this is the case and the complexity and time needed to get 3006 to be developed on Merlin.

What I’m lacking I guess is guest network pro. My question would then be - is it fine to flash my Merlin 3004 to Asus 3006 and when Merlin 3006 comes out, flash my Asus 3006 to Merlin 3006. Is it worth the hassle or I should just do nothing and wait?

What if ASUS would send us some test routers - if only on loan
That would help tremendously.
I mean I have about eight of them, bought with my own money.

Need to find the Product Manager for some of these new ones. And pitch the case!

I have sent in 2 routers for warranty work replacement , never had a problem they sent me a new or refurbished working router within 2 weeks , then again I don't live in my mothers basement playing games all day . Good luck finding a better company re warranty support , none are perfect

Super helpful... thank you! Surprised they went down the same path as the AXE16000 since it was such an odd ordering of interfaces. I think I can figure out the GT-BE98 based on its tech specs on the asus website.

It has seemed to me the Networking side of the house is much different than the PC component side for whatever reason. I have always found support decent for routers and not great for most other things.

It's up to you on how much of a hassle this may be and if you want to wait (might be awhile). However, if you do try 3.0.0.6, it's recommended to reset router when gng from Merlin to stock firmware and vice versa. Let us know how 3.0.0.6 is working for you.

Based on this it sounds like best to keep to latest firmware. But in this instance, is Merlin 3004 or Asus 3006 considered the latest firmware?
