Aargh... why is this captcha coming so often on LAN?
I can't catch the logic when it is popping up and why. Random?

Because you look like a robot! :D

Haha, good one. :D
But 4 times today. From my own network. Seriously? o_O

PS. Is it better to look like Cloud Services? What's your success rate?

I have not seen the captcha here. Using new MS Edge and http login to 192.168.1.1 via a shortcut, if that matters.

Chrome here and I've seen the captcha once on my first login, Never again after that.

I have reverted to the latest merlin firmware and I no longer the same gui problems I have reported here

I use Firefox on Windows 10, Linux and Android. Have never had the problem you reported. Do you have some security feature turned on in Firefox? Did you do a factory reset after loading the 384_81858?

Tommorow I am going to reset everything back to factory and give this firmware another go.

captcha due to frequent access to the device, I agree it is annoying
but there are no new sources yet, it cannot be disabled
maybe there should be a parameter for nvram

for example, checking for updates or the level of event logging, not in regular firmware, but in nvram

I have never seen it when using:
router.asus.com/Main_Login.asp

I call the router by IP. Funny thing it offers captcha and I just close the page. 10min later no captcha, user & pass only. o_O

Have just completed a total new manual build, after a rest/initialize for this firmware, will monitor and report any findings. I did reset the sys log level to 5 as well. Settings as per defaults withe exception of the usual candidates, e.g airtime fairness, universal beamforming, etc, fixed channels, fixed bandwidths and a single SSID, No smart connect. Roaming assistant in use.

You should leave the WIFI settings as default except for 2.4 GHZ fixed channel 1,6 or 11 @ 20 MHZ and 5 GHZ a fixed channel in a non DFS band 20, 40 80 MHZ. Also turn on SmartConnect.

No smarconnect 2.4ghz ch 6 20 5GHz ch 149 80..disabled the usual on 2.4ghz and 5GHz Running smooth for 8 days.

Everyones environment is different so its about trial and error.

So far it performs normally did not experience drop of connection yet lets see how it goes. Recommended to upgrade because of security fixes...

Never had much luck with it
