when and if Merlin has a release version I will be buying one of these 92u routers , if all is stable . To good a deal to pass up

Merlin support is great news. I was on the fence about trying this router. When a release version comes out I’ll finally try it as an upgrade to my old AC86U. I’m interested in seeing if it’ll have enough range on 6ghz to cover my whole 2 bedroom apartment.

6GHz range is no different, usually worse (shorter at given power level) than 5GHz. No secret sauces will change basic physics.

It won't. Has nothing to do with the router, that's how the technology is. You need to be in close proximity to the router for it to work properly.

I have MLO enabled so it switched to 5GHz automatically when needed.

Running the beta Merlin on the RT-BE92U (updated over the stock FW), with Diversion and FlexQoS for 2 days, no issues so far

Works on my rt-be92u so and then I have more memory left in this firmware than on Asus' own, I'm happy that it came to my rt-be92u so thumbs up 👍🙂

you should see a big improvement over the ac 86u

I'm happy to hear that new merlin works good on BE92u. I'm waiting for stable realease of merlin fw and i will buy 92u.

Do you know if Merlin on the RT-BE92U supports vlan tagging?
VLAN features are identical to those of the stock firmware.

VLANs Switch Comtrol on Merlin;

This is what you will see…

3.0.0.6.102_37526 MLO Std, IoT network, AP-mode 2,5,6 activated, RAM at 67%

1) seems to crash router on 6Gz :-( changed it to power save mode as someone suggested, not sure if it's helping, devices don't connect to 6ghz due to being weakest
2) sometimes reconnects on 5ghz even

turned off IoT, let's see if that does anything.
unfortunately MLO std config does not allow you to unselect 6ghz

Turn MLO off.
It has serious issues.

This router is very picky. Many combinations of settings will cause the 6ghz band to run around 30-70Mbps. I had to factory reset, create my IOT and Guest networks again. Then the primary SSID began working a bit better. Enabling MLO currently allows the best performance for me.

Big note: You need the absolute latest OS and drivers for WiFi7 to work. Im talking Linux kernel 6.12+ or Win11 24H2+. If you don't have cutting edge OS and drivers then you will consistently see better performance on the 5Ghz spectrum.

@HackSlash that's good info, that at least will help a few. Another piece of advice would be to not going around flicking switches - only change what's necessary (actually that's good advice for any asus router ax and above).

It's literally why I bought it, to have faster handover between when roaming around backyard house, and have minimal voip interruptions 😭
