Yes, if you're upgrading from firmware using SDK5.* to firmware using SDK6.*, you should do a factory reset/clear nvram after upgrading and manually re-enter your settings. I'd also suggest "forgetting" the networks on your clients, and re-connecting for best results *smile*.
Thanks for the heads' up about it.

AI clouds now broken for me, i did a factory reset after flashing then setup everything, I can login via the web or android app but then it throws a can't connect error when trying to click on either usb device, any ideas ?

If you did a factory default reset, make sure you also re-enabled sharing under USB -> Servers Center -> Samba, including assigning user permissions to the folders you wish to share.

RT-N66R in AP mode observations:

2) Stealth mode is not fully stealth. The LEDs for both wireless radios are lit. The other LEDs are off

Turn stealth mode to off then on, reboot.

Looks like RMerlin needs to check the stealth mode code. After I reboot the router today the wireless LEDs were lit again. Turning it off/on stealths the LED but it returns after a reboot .

Do you have anything that controls your radio based on a schedule (scheduled wifi, Cron job, etc...)?

Otherwise, this could be a side-effect of the SDK6 switch since you have an RT-N66U. I wasn't expecting it to have any impact, but I could try to see if I can reproduce the problem as well.

Nothing scheduled for the radios. I could not recall what triggered it but I think I made a change or two in the wireless section.

yes as i open every page pre reset so i can go through one by one adding back the settings, share without account was used before and after, i can browse my local network and see everything via my laptop, as soon as I try and use the aicloud app or aicloud webpage i get the error "server error, please refresh page" on the webpage and aicloud app just says "unable to connect"

I can browse attached computers. i can also use aicloud fine on the previous release with the same settings as i just loaded the old fw and restored settings, then flashed back to this and reset/restore to find the issue returned.

This was introduced by Asus with 720. They changed some of the webui code related to encryption method selection, and that new code will also put the focus on the key field when an encryption method gets selected (as is the case when the page is first loaded).

If I change this, it will most likely create a different problem elsewhere where that same code gets used.

I'm not sure what Asus were thinking, somebody is going to accidentally change their WPA key

RT-N66R

Had to revert back to beta1.

2.4Ghz was just inconsistent. Link rate would constantly vary usually staying at a low link rate (5.5 or 6.5). Family was complaining of "not working" WiFi.

One other thing I noticed with beta 3 was that the web GUI was very sluggish. Didn't notice it until using the very responsive beta1

I can't reproduce the issue here, I have no problem browsing shares on USB disks plugged to an RT-N66U, both with sharing set with or without user accounts. Try resetting the disk sharing config files. Go into your mounted drive (through SSH or telnet), then delete the config files:

Code:
rm -rf .__*

(make sure you actually copy/paste this - this is dot-dash-dash-asterisk)

Then, unplug the disk, plug it back, and reconfigure sharing on the Samba page.

Doing anything that causes the wireless radio to be restarted will indeed reset these two LEDs. This isn't a new issue, I can also see it on an RT-AC66U running an older FW.

The problem is that the wireless driver does not go through the FW to control these LEDs, they are directly controlled by the driver. I'm already forcing them back off in the radio control function of the FW, but I suspect that there is a delay between the moment this function gets called, and the moment the LEDs get turned back on by the driver.

I'll see if I can move the LED control update further down the chain of event, not sure if that would help however.

One thing you guys can try is to turn the router off for a few seconds, then turn it back on to ensure that the radios get fully reset...

No biggie Merlin because Beta1 works just great for my needs but I tried Beta3 again with your suggestions of a power off etc... but I was still stuck on Channel 6 despite applying Control Channel selection, 1. inSSIDer shows Channel 6, as does the wifi signal pop-up on your GUI. Anyways, here's more info if people have the same version etc... I am back on Beta1!:)

Just curious, but are you using 40MHz. channel width on 2.4GHz.? That takes 2 full channels, so it would explain to me your being "stuck" on channel 6. If you're using 20MHz. channel width, never mind *smile*.

I'm on Wireless Mode AUTO - 20/40 MHz - Control Channel 1. I need to stream video to TWO "G" PS3 units via PS3 Media Server. Works flawlessly.

And it stays on 1 in Beta1.... goes to Channel 6 with Beta3.

Work in 5 hours....

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.........

Well, if you ever get the chance, I'm curious what behavior you would see if you set the channel width to 20MHz. But since beta3 is in your rear view mirror, I'm not expecting a quick answer *smile*. Sleep well, or I hope that you slept well.

could you provide me with the code and steps to ssh in as i am useless at this type of thing :)

as far as I know is opening puttytel and logging into the router :(

I must say that this beta3 is working well on rt-n16. Wifi signal is stable, router is not restarting on its way. Super and Thank Yu

About weird combination of channels at 40 mhz... it's GUI bug apparently cuz inSSDier shown normal values.

I have got problem with minidlna in beta 3 which I hadn't in other versions.
Scanning operation doesn't stop and last record in log file is:
image_utils.c:419: warn: malloc failed

AiCloud isn't able to show folder contents

This afternoon I decided to install 3.0.0.4.374.33_beta3 on my AC66U again and reset to factory standards. After that I manually entered all the settings again and it runs smoothly. I haven't checked the signal strength yet, because I wanted to check if I could browse my files with AiCloud for iOS.

I still couldn't browse the folders in my app. It showed the two usb drives that are connected, but I couldn't open them and browse the contents. For some reason I switched the DLNA server off and I noticed that I could immediately browse my USB drives with AiCloud. I had to pick up my son from school and I turned on the DLNA server again and let it scan my music while I was away. When I came home the server was finished scanning and AiCloud was unable to show my drives contents. So I switched the DLNA server off again and AiCloud worked properly again.

So somehow the DLNA server is blocking access to my drives in AiCloud! I don't have this problem with 3.0.0.4.374.33_beta1, so something is wrong with this build. I hope Merlin can fix it.

Quiller, if you select AUTO and 20/40MHz, could you confirm it stays on your selected channel? If I select Channel 1, it disobeys me and locks onto 6, despite what the GUI shows. :D
