we have to ensure that umount jffs always succeeds, which usually doesn't succeed in asus code. now, we can rework JFFS format option for all of HND 5.04 models.

It's worth saying because some people reading this wouldn't realise that just clicking on the Factory default Restore button without ticking that box doesn't clear the jffs partition (it doesn't mention "jffs" there). They also might not realise that just pressing the physical reset button also does not clear the jffs partition.

RMerlin prevously explained that option is not present on newer models that use UBIFS for the jffs filesystem.

My experience points to this being a false belief. The firmware may be the only one flashed to the router (or not), but there is no guarantee that it was fully and properly reset afterward. There is no such thing as 'no data'. Unless they forget to put the flash memory in.

The only model that I'm aware of where it's been confirmed that a hard reset doesn't clear jffs is the RT-AC86U, which appears to be a long standing bug. I've seen the odd post for other models but I've never seen those actually be verified, but I may just have missed it or it may vary by firmware version.

FWIW I've never had a hard reset fail on my RT-AX86U, but then it's not something I do all the time.

Running fine on my GT-AX6000.
Except for the 2.5G LAN led always on when cable connected but I have seen that reported earlier. The led is just on. Not blinking with activity or anything. Just shining away in the night, in my bedroom.



Also. Router won't even try to use 160 MHz. It just stays at 80 max. Before it at least tried.

RMerlin was kind enough to help me out tonight. In case anyone else is having problems connecting their AX88U to a Rogers ignite modem on this beta, whenever I connect to the 1g port on the Rogers, I couldn't get WAN connectivity. The logs showed the port connected at 1gig but the Wan showed disconnected. and of course, no internet. When I plugged into the 2.5g port on the Rogers modem it came up right away even after reboot.

Started having issue where client are connected but no internet connectivity. after reboot it works for few hours than again webpages not being loaded. I will reset the modem again and do clean install to see how it goes.
also there is client showing up with name dhcpcd-5 2 12 Linux-4 4 185 aar which I can't figureout what it is. amazone stick is connected as a different client as I checked the MAC address and I don't have any other amazone devices.
edit note: I am referring to beta 1 here.
just upgraded to beta 2 and will report if had similar issues. dirty upgrade

after complete hard reset it's one of most solid firmware so far. flexqos stable release some times requires restart though which is understandably not smerlin's department. thanks smerlin for another awesome release.
