Hi,

I have run 38_2em without problems, but not much of measurable gains either. So iif I should choose to run the non em 39_0 build will I need to factory reset?

I can't wait to try the OpenDNS implementation especially since my teenage boys have found out they can do DNS on the computer to get around my filtering. Now that's over. They looked beaten when told them! I win! :)

I recommend you stick with 39_0-em in that case. The EM build will probably become the new default build starting with 374.40, so it will save you some trouble.

There's one way they could still get around it if they are that tech-savvy (and have local admin privileges), but I won't mention it here in case they also read this forum ;)

My router is the RT-AC56U.

Is anyone experiencing wireless dropouts using 3.0.0.4.374.39? I've noticed my Chromecast randomly disconnecting and sometimes my phone will stall out and then seem to pick up data again. This is the 2.4 GHz N band for the Chromecast and both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz N band for my phone.

I can't really pinpoint a cause or if I'm imagining it but since going from 3.0.0.4.374.38_2 to .39 I have more issues.

Is there a good way to troubleshoot this and generate real data?

In the wireless log I notice Rx/Tx Rate seems to show ?? if rate more then 2 digits Mbps?

This isn't specific to the latest release as I have seen it before - but is this a known issue or is there a setting I can change to get 'Rx/Tx Rate' if more than 2 digits

RT-AC68U

I can't access the Tools page from the web UI. What happens is that the page is partially loaded at first and then when I try to reload the page i get a screen reporting that the IP of the router has changed and that I should try to reconnect through that IP. All the other functions of the router are OK, including transmission and telnet. No other web ui page I tried to access has that defect.
The only way to recover (a part a reset or switch off, that I don't like as it may damage the connected hard drive) is a software reboot through ssh.
This happens both in linux and win 8.1 with firefox, chrome and IE.

Nobody else has this problem?

Now you made me curious! :D

If you have time could you please PM me? One of the boys read this forum so please do not put it out here!

I'll stick with em. Are there more detailed information that could be understood by someone like me on what the em part actually is designed to be doing?

It's not related on the number of digits, it's related to the device. With some devices the router is unable to report what's the link speed, so in these cases they are reported as ??. No idea why or how, this is part of the closed-source wireless driver.

I see. It's listed as an experimental feature from their "Labs", that's why it won't show up in the dropdown menu of their site.

Not sure I want to implement support for an experimental service, since they could very well change the DNS IPs at any moment. However 374.40 will let you specify a user-defined filtering service, so that would work for you.

I'll consider adding it once it comes out of experimental stage.

Looks like something is causing the web server to crash on your router. I'm unable to reproduce it, so it might be something that's different in your environment.

First thing I would try is to isolate the cause. See if it's caused by a specific device on your network that might have an invalid hostname, for instance. Turn off the router, unplug all devices but the modem and one single computer. Turn it back on, and try to access the Tools page with that computer. If it works properly, start adding more computers on your network to see if it's one of them causing it.

I don't know what's going on with Mediafire, but there's been 2-3 persons reporting that they cannot see the AC66U build, while I do see it fine here, and the download stats also shows that hundreds of people have successfully downloaded it. All I can suggest is to try clearing your browser cache, or trying a different browser.
The file is showing now. I had tried more than one browser. Odd.

All's well that ends well. I'm upgrading now.

I finally upgraded now that aicloud is working fine!
Thanks for the great work!

No, it's been working perfectly for me on all three devices that I tested it (Nexus 7, my wifi laptop and a wired desktop).

It's either a regional thing, or your computer has an IPv6 DNS configured - verify by using "ipconfig /all". Even if you don't have an IPv6 connection, you could still have an IPv6 DNS configured somehow.

Weird. Maybe I'll flash again.
It's definitely no regional thing, Norton DNS works on the WAN page.

Filter with OpenDNS and Yandex work, so why not Norton.
Maybe IPv6, not sure. I switched it off on my laptop NIC with no result.
On my router both items are switched off already. (Because I don't use it.)

Anyway, thanks for testing.
I'll check again when new firmware is available.

Quick question for anyone with no USB disks plugged into an RT-N66U with the 374.39_0-em firmware:

Does the USB icon turn green even with no disk attached? It does say 'No USB disk detected', but I don't think it was ever lit before.

And a mini-report: after almost 5 full days of running this firmware, I can say it is definitely better than 38_2-em and the Asus beta v2239 firmware for stability and speed.

The only issue for me (not important overall, but has now got me curious) is the lit USB indicator. Just wondering if I have to configure something specific to turn it off?

I still using 372.31 on AC-66U has any of the newer firmware fixed the ps3 from reported back my router dont support fragments (pretty much fails download test) when ever QoS is on.

Should I even bother to update it? and IF i do can make back up othe router settings and upload then back to the router after the update? as I really don't feel like spending hours redoing my wireless and all it mac address and QoS settings or the cron job that took me too long to get up running

shot in the dark here, but does running this command make the ps3 work for you with QoS on?

Code:
iptables -I FORWARD -p tcp --tcp-flags SYN,RST SYN -j TCPMSS --clamp-mss-to-pmtu

and how our where do i put that? i will test i just dont know how to do what your asking.

It took me 3 weeks to just fiqure out cron setup

Schedule Disk Scan

Setting des not stick (regression)

Confirmed. Based on what I see in the code, I suspect Asus hasn't implement this for the new USB hub architecture yet.

Would really like to try this new firmware but do not want to loose the contents of my JFFS partition , as it took a while to configure.

I understand the JFFS partition can be backed up , but even though have searched , I cannot find a guide on how todo this?..

I would be very grateful if someone could tell me what tools and what the procedure is to back it up along with all its contents..

Thanks in advance..

just copy and paste it into whatever you use for terminal access; telnet, ssh, even the 'run cmd' page could probably do it.

just executing the command wont make the changes persistent, so if it's useless you can just reboot the router
