He's about to roll out the new version (02) of that fork.

AC68U here. Running into an ongoing problem with 5 GHz AC connection to my Macbook Pro.

At one location in my home, with decent normal speed (not full by any means but the Mac reporting it hovering above and below 200 Mbps), after some extended use (say, streaming a TV show), the speed will drop down to 7 Mbps and become essentially useless. Always 7. Simply disabling and re-enabling wireless corrects the problem, but it's still pretty irritating. Never noticed this before with the last version.

Anyone else experiencing anything like this, or have some suggestions for toggling some options in wireless that may help out? Both beamforming options are enabling, for example. Since I only have one 5 GHz/AC client right now, would it be better to just disable those?

Thanks!

I've basically been having a similar issue from my iMac. I just switched to the new 02 update from the 374.43 fork from John and so far so good. Back to the speed I used to know and love without the degradation over time requiring a reboot to fix. It has all of the security updates, a few other fixes but with the old wireless driver that doesn't exhibit the loss over time and use. I recommend giving it a go.

wifi issues seem to be a popular issue with newer firmwares these days. I have been having issues with my ac56u and ac68u lately.

awesome. I am getting random reboots and not sure if it will fix it.

The only change I have done is to dnsmasq settings, not sure if that could be the culprit. I will disable the settings and see if it fixes the problem. I noticed that the problem exists with the following versions :

.43
.44
.43 forked

I saw this in my dmesg output. Should I be concerned and how to mark out the bad blocks?

Dunno if I should take a plunge into the deep and update now that I have 376.44 working better than ever. Seriously, no problems on my end or the routers end. It's working flawlessly.

I'm going back to 376.44. Can't put my finger on it, but something's up with the 376.45. Not happy with it. WiFi signal strength is subpar and issues with kicking wired LAN devices randomly off the network.

374.43 and 376.44 were Rock solid.

Nothing was changed wifi-wise between 376.44 and 376.45.

Is it possible to customize the error page when the website is blocked by the Firewall / URL filter ?

Could someone running the 376.45 code please check the 'System Log/DHCP leases' page and see if the data looks reasonable (or if a lot of the entries are Expires 24:00:00)? Thanks!

I'm currently running RT-N66U_3.0.0.4_374.40_0 on my RTn66u. I know it's quite old, so i want to update. Can i update to this version without clearing the nvram, or is it better to clearing the nvram (reset all) and configure the router from scratch?

Every time you switch the firmware to older or newer. It is always better to clear the nvram. That's what I do. This would ensure that the routers settings have been cleaned.

If you want to make sure that your router is running top notch. Clear the nvram and reconfigure everything from scratch.

The easiest way to do this is to turn your router off. Wait like 30 seconds and then turn the router back on while holding the wps button down for 10 seconds. I like to hold mine for 30 seconds when I clear the nvram this way.

Resolving local IPadresses

Hello Merlin,

11 days of uptime with this great firmware without any issues.

I was wondering If you could help me fix a small issue.
In firmware 374.43_2 I was used to see the Nated hostname under the Connections tab (System log).

I noticed in firmware 376.45_0 only the IPadress of the host is shown.
Any idea in how I can resolve the hostname?
