Hmm glad I didnt update just yet. Hmm I'll get to this around Monday or Tuesday. But so far no issues on 378.52_2?

Hi.
Thanks a lot for the firmware, it is very good.

I noticed that you have added TOR in VPN section, I checked it and it seems to work good.

I was just wondering if it works as the TOR browser (https://www.torproject.org/) connecting trough the same nodes or it is something different?
If so that means that I can use it instead of TOR browser safely?

Thanks.

I have one question in regards to the AICloud https and http thing, I know merlin updated and fixed some stuff related to that, I wanted to know if that will allow me to access the AIcloud using http instead of https.

52.0 Had slow loading Asus GUI , and strange speed fluctuations , 52.2 seems to be working well though , no problems yet . RT 3200 Not using smart connect or trend , bandwidth use and traffic analyzer are working as they should .

Is it safe to assume there is no need for a factory reset going from 52 to 52_2 ?

EDIT: Flashed 52_2 and after going through a few pages in the UI it locks me out and a reboot is needed to get back in the router. Never had this happen before guess i will try a factory reset if no joy will revert back to standard 52. This happens on three different browsers.

Edit2: Reflashed 52_2 complete factory reset and same thing scrolling through the routers UI and it locks me out every time, have to reboot to get back in all computers all browsers. Went back to 52 original and all is perfect again. Possible bug at least for me.

I went through every page one after another on my RT-AC68U without any issue.

No idea, not really familiar with Tor, or Tor browser. I just fixed a few bugs in the code, and ensured I was obtaining a different IP in my browser when TOR was enabled.

The bug fix was related to AiCloud failing to start as it was missing its SSL certificate. Nothing else was changed.

Dear Merlin,
I already used the Asus AC66U 2 more years, I always used the official firmwares and keep the latest version before. Recently I converted the official firmware to the Merlin, but I found a serial bug is still existed on all of firmwares with any versions. Anybody can help? thank you in advanced. My current firmware version is 378.52 with Merlin.
Whatever the offcial firmware or Merlin, sometimes the AC66U seem like hang but not fully dead, I still can login on the router by SSH or WebGUI with very slow latency, and I typed some commands to check the performance and system logs, but no any findings, CPU/Memory utilization were normal, no special error logs, but all of devices accessed internet/NAS/SSH very very slow, the whole router works very slow too, the only solution is rebooting. After rebooting, anything will be ok, the issue happened frequently, especially there were too many data stream between the router and internet.

Check your wiring. A bad Ethernet cable can cause a lot of packet retransmit, leading to LAN-wide issues.

I don't use DLNA or Itunes servers, only SAMBA share for the attached USB3, 320GB Drive.
So you are saying that you have checked the Media Server page, and verified that the iTunes and DLNA server switches are in the OFF position?

My Wireless has the issue too, anything were very slow, I already reset the setting in the Web GUI, do I need any hardware reset to factory setting?

Hello,
is it recommended for the RT-AC87U to make a factory default reset when I will update from 378.52 to 378.52_2 ?

From the very first post in this thread from Merlin announcing then update firmware:
A factory default reset is strongly recommended for the RT-AC87U, due to the changes in the Quantenna firmware

Thanks!

I would say no, no need for factory reset, I updated today between the same versions without issues.
378.52_2 contains the same Quantenna driver as 378.52.

Yes, they are turned off. In the Media Server page they are OFF, only on USB Application - Network Place (Samba) Share / Cloud Disk i have Enable Share ON and Allow guest login ON.

As Merlin stated, a bad cable causing re-transmits will effect the overall router. So if the wired connection is re-transmitting to a certain client for example then the router will be busy even for the other (including wireless) clients.
