It seems that entware-setup.sh doesn't create services-start script properly. Instead of simple "copy text to script" it somehow evaluate it so the result is completely wrong. Unfortunately I have already updated it from the entware-setup.sh script so I cannot paste here how it looks like but I'm sure it should be reproducible.

The new token-based webui authentication scheme works well with PasswordBox too!

Found this in my system log tonight. Any idea on what this is?

Is a factory reset recommended for this build?
With every Merlin firmware update, there is a file called "README-merlin.txt" included in the package. Among other things, there is "Installation" section. This is a quote taken out from that file:
Installation
------------
Simply flash it like any regular update. You should not need to
reset to factory defaults (see note below for exceptions).
You can revert back to an original Asus firmware at any time just
by flashing a firmware downloaded from Asus's website.

NOTE: resetting to factory default after flashing is
strongly recommended for the following cases:

- Updating from a firmware version that is more than 3 releases older
- Switching from a Tomato/DD-WRT/OpenWRT firmware

If upgrading from anything older and you experience issues, then
consider doing a factory default reset then as well.

Always read the changelog, as mandatory resets will be mentionned
there when they are necessary.

In all of these cases, do NOT load a saved copy of your settings!
This would be the same thing as NOT resetting at all, as you will
simply re-enter any invalid setting you wanted to get rid of. Make
sure to create a new backup of your settings after reconfiguring.

I made an attempt to do an unofficial build of 378.55 Beta2 for the older RT-N16 routers, and would appreciate if anyone with test hardware can check to see if it works. Although I have RT-N16 routers in production, I don't have any units that I can take out or use for testing. Here is the TRX binary for downloading it. Again I appreciate feedback on if there are issues with this firmware image or if it is working fine for anyone that is trying it.

Hi @RMerlin, any possibility of adding a WAN Uptime counter/display on the router gui? Similar to the router uptime display?

Something that can be triggered through the wan-start code? When it detects a connection it writes a timestamp of when the WAN connected and then on the router gui it will read that timestamp and a code that will use that timestamp to calculate and display the uptime?

Merlin, thanks for doing the magic that you do! This is a really great build. I can't wait for the next one.

Wrong thread, please post this kind of cannot-be-answered question somewhere else. This is a thread about Merlin _55 beta firmware.

So i realized after doing some research i have one of the models where the ethernet ports are defective. i had bought the product back in july of 2013 so it sounds about right of the bad batch date. When i contact asus support and send the product back i can't have the rmerlin firmware on it correct? i'll have to revert back to one of the asus firmwares so it doesn't void warranty. Not sure if that matters but just wanted to ask if anybody has been in this situation before and gotten it taken care of.

Thank you

Yes, that's generally a good practice. Return it in the shape you received it, meaning... your router should have official ASUS firmware installed. It's not a big deal, since you can easily revert back to ASUS firmware from Merlin's.

Yeah or by the way OpenSSL is going, we can wait a few more days for 1.0.2e... or 1.0.2z.

Expect also other apps depending on OpenSSL such as OpenVPN also to release a new version soon, unless they are not affected which is highly unlikely.
