Windows has been doing this for many, many years too. This is not something new or unique anymore.
Hi guys. I have updated my RT-AC87u to the latest firmware and I have noticed I cannot block Google's DNS to use my chromecast.
As you can see from the picture below I get an error. Can someone tell me how I can bypass this and enter 8.8.*.* like before?

Merlin is way too busy to respond to your question when it has already been so expertly answered.Take a look at the firmware update page here
http://www.asus.com/us/Networking/R...oduct&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=router
(click Windows 10-64 bit, then firmware from above link)
Some of the updates are specifically noted that a reset is suggested. 3.0.0.4.380.1031 is NOT one of those.
Many of you seem to be unable to comprehend what I'm asking, so I'm done, it really doesn't matter. Like it's been said, if it works without the reset, great, if not, do a reset. I just thought it might help me/others understand things better if I heard why rmerlin thinks the sdk+wireless driver update requires a reset and Asus does not.
He didn't and some people finally understood what i was saying when reading it properly, but we are passed that now and it really doesn't matter. Just read back through the whole discussion and you'll see. No need to post further.Merlin is way too busy to respond to your question when it has already been so expertly answered.

Question: Do you sleep with Merlin at night?
if Stop answering for merlin,If Merlin want to answer the the question
that's for him to decide ,he doesn't need you to answer for him
It's no big deal either way
That being your role, you'd better contact your Asus contacts to fix the issue structurally. Merlin generally does not fix Asus' issues...Thank you bigcid10 - alas DaveMishSr does not realise I am one of the UK ASUS testers for their xDSL routers and as such have direct contact with ASUS support team, which is why I posted the Merlin question here as I know Merlin is busy and did not wish to disturb him directly ;-)

And when he needs to answer all question (the same repeatedly because people are too lazy to read previous posts) you'd not be getting a new version soon...
Like I said ,what is it with everyone answering questions for merlin like your his partner
If he can't find the time to answer it ,it will go unanswered, simple
That's the essence of a public forum: Anyone can answer the questions asked. That's why. If you want an exclusive contact, the forum provides the tool 'PM' . So either send a PM or live with the fact that publicly posted question can/will be answered by anyone. Your choice.Like I said ,what is it with everyone answering questions for merlin like your his partner

I don't think that I am Eric's type and we are 3000 miles apart...Question: Do you sleep with Merlin at night?
