Dirty from 386.2_b2 to b3. Zero problems, wonderful performance in every respect.
 
Got a cheap chinese usb fans kit. They have those air filters. Replaceable too it seems like. With the filters it's only pushing like a very small amount of air. I thought it wouldn't be enough. But yes it was more than enough.

From the lowest 80C and normally at 90C (and more if on load) . To about 50C on the lowest and 60C on load . Pretty big difference right there.

The lowest without fan I could get before 386 was 70C and about 69C (nice)
Buy USB laptop cooling pad. I use one for my RT-AC5300; the temp keps steady @60C
 
Overall, 386.2 Beta3 seems good BUT:
- wifi speed on AX client seems a tiny bit better (with 5GHz/160 link connected at 2402Mbps, actual internet speed can reach 570+ Mbps (out of 1Gbps on wire), and with previous version it was like 500
- seeing some slower than usual speeds on PIA VPN (just one client) - used to be 100-120, now it is more like 50 :(, and browsing sometimes is just painful
- (same problem with Beta2) walking with iPhone during Teams will result periodic sound loss
 
No. This is the compromise for me supporting the ROG models - I won't be using the ROG UI.

When you look closely there's not much you miss out on, the Merlin VPN implementation offers more than VPNFusion, and the gaming features are mostly available just without the flashy interface.

And for people like myself that got the AX11000 purely because it had three wireless radios and there was no RT model available Merlin is a better choice. In fact VPNFusion lacks what I need to utilize router based VPN.

And, I might add, beta3 has been working well, apart for the basic stuff I mentioned earlier I've enabled Cake QOS (not sure I'll continue with that but it does seem to function ok) and SkyNet.

Yes, that's the reason. The entire page (https://router.asus.com:8443/Main_LogStatus_Content.asp) has been replaced by uiScribe, along with the option to set the log level, I suppose

If you don't want to see those messages, just write a filter and direct them to /opt/var/log/garbage.log. That's my digital trash can for everything I don't want to see in my logs.

@JohnD5000 - You can still change the log level - first uninstall uiScribe [but keep data] - then go to System Log page - change level - reinstall uiScribe ... sorted.

Not completely sure, but pretty confident, this works, but it might be a less of of hassle and worth a try. Maybe someone who's not using (ui)Scribe/syslog-ng is willing to try this out, that way you'll know for sure. The log_level is a nvram variable, which defaults to 7. Notice should be 5, according to an old post by @RMerlin I found in regards to one of the changelogs in the 380 branch. So, I'm not sure whether the numbers corresponding with the levels have changed, but there's an easy way to find out.

Open an SSH session.

You can see the current loglevel with

nvram get log_level

You should be able to change it with:

nvram set log_level=5
nvram commit

Now reboot your router through the UI. If you return to uiScribe Messages you should see the changes immediately (from the timepoint you rebooted).

If not, just change it back to 7, the same way as described above. It'll save you the hassle of reinstalling and missing data in your filtered logfiles because Scribe has been uninstalled shortly.

the log levels don't really make much sense for syslog-ng (scribe), as they apply to what the built-in syslog is doing rather than syslog-ng
Thanks for that - understood. seemed to make a difference to my logs after I spotted the suggestion elsewhere and gave it a whirl - but imagination is a powerful thing ;).

i think it will work for what entries are actually generated by klogd, but the "messages to show" wouldn't take effect. or something like that

It will have to wait until 386.3, 386.2 will not receive any further change beyond bugfixes this late in the development cycle.

No idea. Note that some features in iproute2 may possibly require a specific kernel version (for example, Cake required a specific kernel version, or a manual backport).
 
After loading up the 386.2 beta 3 on the AX86U and snacking on some crow I am pleased to report this version of the firmware is very impressive! Running fixed channels on both bands with the 5 GHz @ CH 40 - 160 MHz and WPA2/WPA3-Personal. My "G" IP cams are working, all the old 2.4 clients stay connected, most AC clients connect via WPA3 and the new ThinkBooks connect @ 160 MHz. Did DSL Reports speed test without QOS and got 104/104 out of my 100/100 FIOS at A+ A+ A. Enabled Cake and the bandwidth dropped slightly to 101/102 with all A+. Running DoT with DNSSEC via Stubby (my preference) and DNS Filter - Router. Have not tested the OpenVPN server nor Instant Guard yet but have no reason to believe they will not work. Next-the release?

Oh, I did as Eric recommended and powered off the router for a few seconds after initial config following factory reset/initialize. Seems to have helped the radio settle in quicker.
