Follow up to earlier post - Windows 10 Pro Build 1709 running 384.4 Beta2 on my RT-AC68P is running just fine now, mapped the drives I want to see on my laptop and my USB3.0 external drive off the router this is with SMBV1 disabled. (Rebooted router after changing default setting to just SMBV2)

Next problem is my laptop did exactly what I did with my pc to the laptop and no networking. Laptop is running Windows 10 Home not pro (Windows 10 Home 1709 OS Build 16299.251). Have map all the drives I want to see on my pc and the USB3.0 drive off of the router but no connection. Everything back to normal if I initialize SMBV1 client in Programs and Features. Tried a number of thing MS has suggested like initialize V2 protocol via the Powershell, checking Network Discovery is on, all to no avail. I know Home is different from Pro but Home version must be missing something that pro has and I don't know what it is.

Just upgraded my 68U to the beta2. The firmware version on the web admin page is still showing beta1 though:

Means the procedure never completed. Reboot your router with no plugged USB disk, then try again flashing.

Loaded 384.4 Beta2 and changed SMB setting to v2. On my windows 10 Pro, went into Programs and features in windows and unticked smbv1 and rebooted. I now can not see any of my other pc's, networking is not working, so I changed back the SMB setting to the default which had both V1 and V2 combined and went back to my windows pc and added back smbv1 client and rebooted again and networking came back. I'm wonder if anybody else is having the same problem cause MS says SMBV2 is supported and that if you disable SMBV1, V2 should run.

SMBv2 does not support network browsing. You have to manually enter the URI \\COMPUTERNAME to access shahres.

As I suspected, Asus broke the DST parser in 20379 (and in more than just one way). Fixed with this commit.

Site Survey should now be fixed for AiMesh-enabled models with this commit (I originally only fixed it on the non-AiMesh version of the site survey page).

i am still struggling with rt-ac5300 with adaptive qos manual setting.
Using cable internet at 100 Mbps down / 2 Mbps upload, connecting via ethernet to router, adaptive qos manual setting fq_codel, only getting speed at 70Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload.
If i change to adaptive qos - auto setting - fq_codel, download speed is back to 100Mbps and 2Mbps upload.

Any setup that i did not do correctly?

Thanks in advance.

Redownloaded the firmware and reupdated, just to make sure, still to no avail. Any other 68U users having the same issue?

Edit: Just fyi, the system info and router upgrade pages are still also showing the firmware as beta1 also:

My 68U and 86U both are showing beta2 after update. Go back to asus FW and/or Merlin stable and then try it again.

Did that help?

For me services-start is still not executed after that sequence.
No lucky.
Didn't help. Can be started only manually.

What happens if you switch back to the local syslog daemon?
No changes. I posted info about remote logger only as info, to be sure - all data from log is available.
So, I can see any other records in log, related to "custom scripts", except services start record.

@RMerlin,

Have you solved problems with the 5 GhZ WiFi speed for the iPhone X? (problem solved since Merlin 384.3 beta)
With Merlin I got 866, but with the stock Asus firmware, I have 300/444. That's why I think you changed something ;-)

5GhZ information:

Wireless Mode: N/AC Mixed
Channel bandwidth: 80 MhZ
Control Channel: 108
Extension Channel: Auto

Other people (@Broken Hope) had this problem too and indicated that it was gone:

[Beta 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.3 Beta is now available

@Broken Hope,

Can you indicate the problem is still gone with the new Merlin firmware? (version 384.4 beta)

Nevermind, flashed again, waited 2 more minutes after the gui recommendation to manually reboot and all is good
Showing beta2
Scripts all started

Thanks for mentioning this about SMB v2. I had the same problem mentioned earlier in the thread (Network sharing via Windows Explorer on my home network) when I disabled SMB v1. Thank you for the clarification / explanation.

Running a RT-87U here and since I installed 384.4-Beta1 and 2 my internet speed (using speedtest.net) has decreased dramatically.

Situation:
  • ISP linespeed: 150 Mb/s down / 50 Mb/s up (Cable)
  • ISP modem running as Router: Full speed using RJ-45 connection PC direct to modem
  • ISP modem running as Bridge: Full speed using RJ-45 connection using PC direct to modem
  • Running 380.X --> Full speed through ac WiFi and RJ-45 to RT-87U
  • Running 384.4 Beta1 & 2 --> Download max 35 Mb/s (wired & WiFi same) / Upload 45 Mb/s (QoS enabled)
  • Running 384.4 Beta1 & 2 --> Download max 35 Mb/s (wired & WiFi same) / Upload 45 Mb/s (QoS fully disabled)

Anyone any tips? The problem is somewhere in 384.4, but I cannot find the problem..

You are lucky.
On ac86u I saw everything in the log, except this exact line - services-start.
I put additional line with logger in the beginning of this script ("Trying to start Entware") .
But can see this record in a log only with manual start of the services-start script from command line.
