Yep IPv6 is borked in the alpha and beta builds. Getting the router to obtain a v6 address is a total pain in the butt it just don't work right.

Reverting back to older builds fixes the problem every time, I have tried many times. Always something with v6 just can't get it right. And yes I have factory reset the router cleared Nvram every install to no avail. Just don't have time anymore to keep playing the games. Asus 380.858 works best for me on my AC3100.

5300/Comcast here, and I agree with the notion that it's been dorked in builds since 58, but even with these latest builds, I (so far!) manage to finally get it working after wading thru a series of reboots.

After I recently updated/rebooted to 62 beta here, I then powered down the router, pulled the plug on my modem and let it all sit for a good 30+ minutes, then powered everything back up, did one more reboot on the router, and I got IPv6.

The nice thing is, once I get it, it "sticks" fine - I don't have issues with it randomly dropping out. I just dread having to power down or reboot the router these days!

Cheers, Chris

Yeah exact same issue here keeping it seems ok but obtaining it is just a frustrating joke reboot after reboot after reboot. Don't have time for that crap anymore as stated 380.858 works excellent and v6 works the first time every time. : - )

Updated from 380.61 "official" to 380.62-beta-1 on RT-AC68U. It works well.

I used to have network map problems in 380.61-beta, but that was finally resolved when I cleared nvram, reinstalled, cleared nvram, and re-entered DHCP static list. The upgrade was done without nvram cleared, and network map still works well.

The new wifi report takes some getting used to, but it works well. I would have liked, if I could choose either to see the nice display, or see the "command output" that I see with ASUS' firmware .. I like them both, and use for different purposes.

It would be nice, if DHCP static list had a column "latest refresh", so I can see if there are reserved addresses I can remove from the list. It would also be nice if the DHCP static list could be sorted by MAC, IP, hostname, device name, and latest refresh.

Does your wireless log work properly seeing the devices IP address, after the upgrade am only able to see the MAC address it no longer associates the IP address.

Compare your wireless settings and advanced settings from DD-WRT to Merlin. E.g. on DD-WRT what is your channel selection, 20/40 etc. Also you may want to disable all beamforming options. It has to be related to tweaks, lower your RTS 2307 beacon 75.

It doesnt have to be related to tweaks at all. Do you have an AC66U, or have you even used Dd-WRT firmware?
My settings are the same as always. This didnt help at all. Good try though.

Any thing else? Why does it cause so much lag in Star Trek and Diablo 3?

I have AC68U and used to use DD-WRT on many wifi devices including ASUS. My only recommendation is do packet captures with wireshark with DD-WRT and Merlin. Compare results

Hi !

I have run 380.62 b1 the whole weekend but something strange happened with b1.
Running Speeedtest show that my PING went up from approx 5 to 25-30 and downloadspeed from 100 to approx 30Mbps.
I did several reboots and also on the fiberbox.

Streaming from my local Synology NAS was almost impossible also.
It´s connect directly to my RT-88U.

I went back to 380.61 and the normal speeds and ping where back....
NAS steaming also seems to work again.

I didn´t notice this on 380.62a1 and a2.

The wireless devices that are shown have both MAC and IP v4 address and device description (from static DHCP). They do not show hostnames.

Network map and static DHCP lists were empty this morning after 8 hours with 380.62 b1 on RT-AC68U. They worked fine an hour after upgrade last night.

I think I found out last time that staic DHCP with more than 32 devices would break things. It is quite likely that I accidently crossed that line again, when my son got a new mobile phone few weeks ago.

Did fallback to 380.61 "official", but both network map and static DHCP list were still empty. Both mobile phone (Android) and tablet (Android) connected and got their usual static IP ... not sure if their DHCP clients "remembered" the leased IP, but router's list of leased IP's show fresh lease times.

Will clean NVRAM, upgrade to 380.62 b1, and reenter static DHCP list with max. 31 clients. Hope that works.

Edit: Did command nvram show, and it still show dhcp_staticlist, which indeed had grown to 33 devices. It may well have been first time the router was booted with 33 devices in static DHCP list, which means this may have been a problem also in 380.61, which I just hadn't discovered yet.

Hello, I am having a problem with merlin 380.62, I have a gigabit web service, on merlin firmware can´t go on more than 450mb speed test, with oficial asus no problem to have 800mb on speedtest.net. The router is AC5300.

Is there any logical reason for this?!

I have the AC66U as backup.
What ddwrt firmware do you use?
Would like to test this but not sure the last firmware was the best.
Connected to the net once but second time ti wouldnt...

You can PM me regarding which firmware to use. I don't want to take up important information in this thread pertaining to another firmware. But, I just switched back to DD-WRT and everything is working as it should. Just wish I could use HTB/FQ_Codel for QoS. On DD-WRT, it doesn't work well, unlike Merlin. I also get better wireless stability/strength using DD-WRT.

It didn't work. Still empty network map, and no static DHCP list.

However, I noticed that DHCP clients received correct IP addresses. I also noticed I could not change DHCP IP address range, or add default gateway, or even enable static DHCP assignment. Tried some nvram set commands, and they were reflected on router's web UI, but didn't solve network map or static DHCP list problems. Press "apply" on DHCP server page had no effect at all.

So I tried switch web browser from Firefox to Chrome ... that worked!
I used Firefox 45.3 ESR on Red Hat Linux 7.2.

On RT-AC68U with 380.62 b1, there is a wireless printer device, Brother DCP 375cw. which shows up on "wireless log" having been constantly connected to 2.4GHz with duration "0:00:00", and flags are "______". It shows with correct IP address and device name. RSSI says -63 dBm 1/1 mbps.

The RSSI is actually slightly better than usual (used to be -70 dBM, but still stayed connected for 400-500 hours).

I can ping this printer, so it is really connected, but seems a bit odd in wireless log.

Other devices show up with normal data in wireless log, and they also show up in network map.

Strange, mine is setup as AP and DHCP is from my firewall not the AC68U. With build 380.61 I was able to see the MAC and IP now it's just the MAC. Oh well, at least my firewall displays it correctly and all is working so once the beta is done and official is out I will reset the router and see if that resolves it. Note to self, never install beta's :)

I installed this beta version on my RT-AC87U but can i increase the wifi and change the country as well?
I normally use:
nvram set asuscfe0:ccode=#a

nvram set asuscfe1:ccode=#a
nvram set asuscfe0:regrev=0
nvram set asuscfe1:regrev=0
nvram set asuscfecommit=1
#
nvram set 0:ccode=#a
nvram set 1:ccode=#a
nvram set 0:regrev=0
nvram set 1:regrev=0
nvram set wl0_country_code=#a
nvram set wl0_country_rev=0
nvram set wl0_reg_mode=off
nvram set wl1_country_code=#a
nvram set wl1_country_rev=0
nvram set wl1_reg_mode=off
nvram commit
reboot

But when i look at wl country it still says DE (EU/13) Germany
and with wl txpwr_target_max the outcome is 13,50 instead of 25

That's because hostnames are only shown while in router mode, since it relies on dnsmasq running locally.

You most likely enabled a feature that isn't compatible with NAT acceleration. Look on the Tools -> Sysinfo page to see which one.

You can't.

Clearly something broke in 380.62 B1 in AP mode that am only able to see the MAC and no IP In the wireless log now. If I revert, all good I see both MAC/IP. I'd appreciate if this can be looked into.

You can't.
In a previous version i had it, so which is the last version that i might be able to do it?
