yes I did read your previous post.
But why isn't it included in this beta?
(I ask but I really don't know what is CFE :D )

I never posted this before, it must have been someone else :p

It is meant to be included, it must be a glitch in the way the merlin build checks for the bootloader version with certain firmware versions.

CFE stands for common firmware environment. It basically communicates to the CPU telling it how much and how to utilize it's resources.

Noticed that the traffic monitor's counts are backwards - reception and transmission appear to be swapped.

I also did my tests with my HE tunnel up, so I could also test your particular scenario where you had IPv6 servers configured.

An old post from Simon that I found last night mentionned that strict-order was a broken implementation, due to the way name resolution typically worked. There's a good chance that it's still the case today, and in certain particular scenarios it causes its share of issues.

Thx for the explanation. Turning off "strict-order" is no big deal whatsoever.
Forgot to mention if I turn off ipv6 tunnel, pinging from router is also fine.

BTW, after I disable ipv6 tunnel and re-enable it, two entries "LAN IPv6 Prefix" and "LAN Prefix Length" are left blank on GUI but all other setting kept, is this a bug?

Not according to your graph, the blue spikes denote high outgoing packets.

Per his post, I think he's referring to the "counts" at the top of the diagram (not the graphs) and I think he's correct.

Edit. Sorry, I see your point now . Now I'm a little confused by the figures.

I think the screenshot might help. I don't have an option for "Account Name" and I can not "Apply" unless I cheat and select one of the other options and then come back to custom and select it.

I see. I guess I need to tell that page to not require the account field to be filled, only the hostname field.

I did factory reset/power cycle/ flash the beta / factory reset/power cycle and the CFE on my RT-AC68U is still 1.0.1.6 :(

EDIT : and CFE 1.0.1.4 on my RT-AC66U but I guess this is normal.

Known issue that was discussed in previous posts, it should be fixed internally now according to one tester. Try again once I release Beta 2.

Yes, of course, not only Samba restarted, Router, PC... nothing seem to work... i don't know the problem:

And even your smb.conf looks good, so all I can think is that there is something on your PC disabling SMB2 support.

It's actually both - the chart shows lots of outgoing throughput which is really my incoming throughput (my upload speed could not possibly reach that high).

1. In the "Adaptive QoS - Web Histroy" tab (misspelled)

Quite a few of these throughout the webui. Unfortunately starting to clean this up would be a whole project of its own, and would result in major headaches whenever trying to merge future updates from Asus. That's why I decided long ago not to do anything related to the dictionary files.

2. The bottom of the "Adaptive QoS - WAN/LAN Bandwidth Monitor" the "WAN/LAN Bandwidth Monitor FAQ" points to a none existing link

http://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1008717/

Unfortunately, I have no idea where it should be pointed. This is a bug in Asus's GPL code.

B.t.w Is there a way to turn of the logging of "Web History" in the QoS? or is it part of the QoS?
How many sites are being logged per client? (the gui seem to show the last hour)
It cannot be turned off AFAIK. No idea on how many it handles, this is closed source code.

And what about privacy policy? I'm a bit curious... Is the collected data being sent back to Asus/Trend Micro in any way?

When you enable any feature that requires the TrendMicro DPI engine, there's a EULA that gets displayed and requires you to accept it. I assume these questions should be answered in that EULA.

No idea why Asus clears those two specific fields. I noticed it as well, but thought it was no big deal and never looked into it.

Hi, guys. I have few questions about last 378.50 beta. When I set TimeMachine, it's hostname differs from router's hostname. Is it possible to tune options in /tmp/avahi/avahi-daemon.conf and /tmp/netatalk/afp.conf?

According to this info, config files can be mofified via /jffs/configs/ and Postconf scripts, but list of available conf files does not contain avahi nor afp.conf...

Currently, the Avahi hostname is based on the product model, followed by part of the MAC, to ensure a unique hostname.

I haven't made this file configurable so far, as I ever thought it would be worth the trouble since this is mostly used for Time Machine support. I'll think about possibly adding it in the future.

RT AC-68U on 378.50_beta1 - USB 3.0 drive mount issues

It looks like the upgrade and factory reset is causing issues with my usb 3.0 drive from mounting.
The drive is formatted as HFS+ and was working on the previous stable version.
Note that when i switch ports from USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 the drive mounts and works correctly.

Logs when connected to USB 3.0:

Jan 29 21:26:04 kernel: usb 2-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 86
Jan 29 21:26:04 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
Jan 29 21:26:06 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1

Jan 29 21:26:11 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
Jan 29 21:26:13 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
Jan 29 21:26:15 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
Jan 29 21:26:18 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
Jan 29 21:26:20 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
Jan 29 21:26:23 kernel: usb 2-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 94
Jan 29 21:26:23 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
Jan 29 21:26:25 kernel: usb 2-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 95
Jan 29 21:26:25 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1

Note the drive i am using is an external USB 3.0 drive with external power source. 3TB, formatted as HFS+. And there is a default EFI partition on the drive.

Any thoughts here?

Thanks and great job on the hard work supporting this project btw!

Most of the issues and comments and questions seem to be around the 56u or 68U or 87u (newer versions) So how is this beta performing on the AC66?

i've been running stable since 2 days.

You probably forgot to re-disable the option to reduce USB 3.0 interference.

And even your smb.conf looks good, so all I can think is that there is something on your PC disabling SMB2 support.

Tested on others Win8.1 machines, same result...

I dont have in this moment a different Windows OS version (only a VM XP, so dont support 2.02) so i can't test a lot of more now. Anyway i will try found the issue.

Thank again.

Hmm, come to think of it, my Windows 8.1 machine (and a Windows 10 desktop) that with older versions of Merlin was connecting with SMB2 for the last couple of months, now _50beta 2015 Jan 29, router AC68u, only connects with SMB1.x, as verified by Windows PowerShell get-smbconnection command.

Pretty sure everything is OK, etc/smb.conf shows max protocol 2, etc.

RMerlin, you are getting SMB 2 connections, was that with an 'AC68u?

Am well aware this is not an issue of much importance, Samba works "fine" now, speeds 65 megs/second off of NTFS USB3 port on router.

RT-AC87U, which uses the same Samba version. Works fine with both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

A little more test about smb:

-Acceding directly thought domain name (browsing on explorer), PC dont request dialect SMB 2.002 for some reason, max dialect request to the server (RT-AC56U) was NT LM 0.12 (smb 1.5), so Asus send back correctly a response with LM 0.12 dialect selected (max dialect supported) -> SMB 1.50

-Acceding thought IP directly to the server, PC send another dialect request, this time correctly and fully: SMB 2002, SMB2.??? (and of course LM 0.12 too and some others older), but again Asus send back a response with LM 0.12 dialect selected (not the bigger dialect this time), although Win8.1 sent this time a SMB2 request support. I try a fresh reboot (PC/router) and try directly IP access, but same result.

Anyway is not "important" for me. I found this "issues" interesting and I especially like to know why things.
