it would be awesome if dual wan 3g/4g now supported USB tether from an iOS device on the n66u.:D

Tell Apple to stop going down the proprietary route. From what I've seen, supporting iPhone tethering requires specific kernel level support.

Give it a few days, you'll see what issue comes up.

For me, I've been running alpha (and now beta) code on my main router for the past few weeks.

Well I didn't want to have to set up 40 entries in my dhcp table and then do it all again, so I bit the bullet and went for it! :)

In the brief period I had been using 49_5 I used the dnsomatic config to update my afraid.org DNS entry as well as my OpenDNS setting.

However because you have to use the dnsomatic hostname, it broke NAT loop back (because as far as the router was concerned my dynamic hostname was all.dnsomatic.com )

Wanting this sorted, I have copied in a ddns-start script with my afraid.org url, chmoded it, and set the Wan -> DDNS -> Server to Custom, and entered my own hostname.

When I tried to apply these settings, it seemed to get stuck on "applying settings" so I navigated back to the main page manually. Here, the DDNS server has a yellow exclamation mark, and although the message is "registration is successful" navigating to the DDNS tab pops up a message "request error! Please try again"

When I run the script manually and navigate to the DDNS tab, I get a "registration is successful" pop up. But still I cannot access my port-forwarded server while connected via wifi (it works using a different network)

I suspect that the settings aren't not being saved to the NAT tables properly, and while running the script ensures that my DNS is updated at afraid.org the router still doesn't know about my custom hostname...

Those are just generic CFEs images. The update process will recopy your other settings when updating the flashed CFE. That's what the various cfe update entries mean in the log posted earlier by someone.

Okey this is really strange, I have same in my logg I can see
Dec 1 00:00:27 kernel: cfe_update: before fe8 13
Dec 1 00:00:27 kernel: cfe_update: !!!! found !!!!

This is working!
/tmp/home/root# cat /proc/mtd
dev: size erasesize name
mtd0: 00080000 00020000 "boot"
mtd1: 00180000 00020000 "nvram"
mtd2: 03e00000 00020000 "linux"
mtd3: 03c65d5c 00020000 "rootfs"
mtd4: 03ec0000 00020000 "brcmnand"
mtd5: 00140000 00020000 "asus"

Maby I try to load asus orginal file, that seem to work to update CFE what I have seen here.

DDNS script with afraid.org working very nice!

I'm using exactly the same code as Asus there, I haven't changed anything.
Hard reset did not help me. ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.3813:
3G / LTE
1. Supported Huawei E161, E3131, E171
2. Supported ZTE MF880, MF823, MF821D
3. Supported Royaltek Q110
Maybe Asus's 378_3913 GPL code has no supported new modems? Or new modems suppors third-party application?

So, originally I had DNSOMATIC configured, with hostname all.dnsomatic.com

I changed the dropdown to CUSTOM and entered my afraid.org hostname, and it had issues applying the settings.

If I change the dropdown back to DNSOMATIC, it has my old DNSOMATIC settings, albeit with my afraid.org hostname!

I suspect that even on CUSTOM setting it is trying to use the configured username/password that have been entered previously, even if they are not required.

(I only spotted this as I tried using Firefox to make the changes instead of IE, and it asked me if I wanted to save the username/password even though I technically did not have one set)

Thinking that the issue was around CUSTOM domains, I created a new no-ip.com redirection, and configured this in the appropriate place. However, even though I get the "registration successful" message, I still cannot access the new no-ip.com hostname from within my local network :(

Testing RT-AC56U DPI here.

-WIFI 2.4Ghz/5Ghz working fine, g/n/ac modes, no problem with 80Mhz in my case for the moment. Consistent connections/speed
-PPTP server running fine
-Scripts working fine (nat-start, firewall-start, wan-start)
-USB mount (for samba) OK, but unable to use smb 2.02 (setting nvram parameter to 1), maybe is related to something else
-I like the new TrafficAnalyzer feature (i know, is in development for the moment, but is really nice)
-DPI work fine for the moment, but i need test a lot of more. No much performance impact after all.
-Web History work fine, and i want test new Adaptive QoS now.

The only "estrange" logs I have (often repeated):

Jan 27 17:35:30 smbd[1336]: [2015/01/27 17:35:30.202572, 0] ../libcli/auth/ntlm_check.c:54(smb_pwd_check_ntlmv1)
Jan 27 17:35:30 smbd[1336]: smb_pwd_check_ntlmv1: incorrect password length (64)

smb is configured to allow guest login

Thank for your work RMerlin

AC87R here..

Did a factory reset through GUI, uploaded the 378.50 beta firmware, when it came up did another factory reset (probably unnecessary), then configured all my other settings manually...

Back up and running, nobody in house is complaining so I'm guessing its stable.

Anyone want me to look at anything when I get home from work this evening?

5ghz Wifi Channels??

When I change the 5ghz channel & apply the Wifi Analyzer app still shows it's on the channel it was on before I changed it. However the 2.4ghz channels work correctly.

It also has alot more 5ghz wifi channels than the old fw.

5ghz link speed is only 400Mbps and old fw was 900+Mbps.

56R with 56U beta dpi fw.

That's exactly how I tested my 56U, but in my case the channel changes properly. Just to be sure, did you perform a factory reset after flashing?

Again, for the 5th or 6th time: The Traffic Analyzer is NOT finalized. It's half working, and is not considered a feature of the firmware yet.

I'm going to remove any mention of it from the OP since people keep overlooking that paragraph.

Sorry for bugging you on this. I ended up biting the bullet and switching to the beta. Thanks for your efforts on this.

Since I am so used to Tomato firmware I am still learning where everything has moved too.

With adaptive QoS enabled last night, my download speeds on my NAS seemed a little slower, but I also had video streaming going at the same time, so I need to do some more testing to see if there really is a performance loss to Tomato or not.

Thanks again,
T.

FTP Brokenon RT-N66u

I've spent some time checking this release and all seems good on my RT-N66U with the exception of FTP which does not appear to be working all I get is the following message when trying to log in on my Linux box from the shell;

421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection

Aside from this everything else looks good and the new custom DDNS script option is working ok.

Anyone have any pointers on the FTP issue or is it just wait for the stable?

BTW I did factory reset and manually reconfigure.

I did do a factory reset after flashing and had the issue.

56U beta1 is changing channels correctly so I'm going to retry beta dpi.

Did your 56u have more 5ghz channels on beta1 dpi??

Indeed, I have more channels available on the 5Ghz band now, and I am able to set them properly.

Make sure you enter a FQDN in that field, not just the hostname.

I suspect that the settings aren't not being saved to the NAT tables properly,

There is no iptables rules related to DDNS.

Also, that field is shared amongst all services. That's why you can only configure one single service at a time. If you need to support multiple services, they must all be configured in a script, and the DDNS setting be left on Custom.

I suspect that even on CUSTOM setting it is trying to use the configured username/password that have been entered previously, even if they are not required.

It's not. It's simply not erasing existing nvram settings such as username/passwords, but those aren't used while the DDNS service is set to Custom. Only the FQDN hostname is used, to be "plugged" wherever the router generates an URL (for instance in an exported OpenVPN client config file).

Windows will keep in memory what dialect was last used when connecting to a server. To force it to detect a change on a server's end, you must either restart the Workstation service (on the Services MMC console), or reboot the computer.

After that, you can use Powershell (if under Win8) to check what dialect version is being used.

If you were having any wifi-related issue with the 5 GHz, see if this version is working better. Asus should have resolved the compatibility issues that existed with Apple products (especially Yosemite Macs if I remember correctly).

The RT-AC56U is a 2x2 router, so the maximum supported link rate is 866 Mbps. I doubt you were getting 900+ Mbps with that router.

Additional channels might be because DFS was added by Asus. I don't know at which point they added it to the RT-AC56U.

Try using channel 36 to see if the link rate goes back closer to 866.
