This hardware discussion is off-topic for this thread. If you want to know details, we can discuss in another thread. When RMerlin mentioned $200 against mini PC he had in mind x86 platform, not another cheap ARM based variant with similar issues to the hardware used in home routers.

If RT-AC86U/GT-AC2900 are killed, RT-AC68U V4 must be killed too.

Is the new Ethernet Port status section ever going to show the connected speed? I assume this is an Asus tweak.

Currently just shows status, or is "green connected" assumed to be a 1Gbps connection? Wonder what it would show if device was connected at 10 or 100 Mbps?

Warning yellow is connection speed is 10/100 and can be improved. Meaning the router supports faster but the cable or device on the other end might not.

Figured that was it. My only minor gripe with this style of designation is that if I have a device that has a max of 100Mbps (like a printer or scanner etc...), then, if it's connected at 100Mbps - that's "ideal" for that device yet it would show as yellow. Yellow triggers in my mind that something is wrong. Meh. Very minor irritant. Heh.

On the plus side aimesh nodes also show the connection status’s.

Upgarded my both AX88U from one Alpha- to Another Alpha.

The log is way less "Kernel" logs bombed.
Not sure what that means though
Oct 17 18:22:54 kernel: ^[[0;33;41m[ERROR mcast] bcm_mcast_netlink_process_snoop_cfg,884: interface 24 could not be found^[[0m
Had this line for 8 times or so.
But definitely less kernel issues.

Hope for more good surprises to come

How does the HW Acceleration and Wireguard work? Does using Wireguard disable HW Acceleration for all devices on the LAN or only clients that are connected through the VPN?

It disables it on the asus router which will affect all clients connected to that router

Sounds logical... I find i need to reboot the devices more often to keep vpn running and stuff. Official Asus update is from March really old for my 2 cents so it could be logical.

@RMerlin is the ac86u and gt2900 killed by Asus? Or is their still active development. Ore should I look out for a new model.
Depends on your definition of "killed". From what limited info I have at this time, these two models will most likely stay on the 386 codebase, probably because of their older SDK (it's actually older than the RT-AX88U SDK). That doesn't mean that Asus will stop support for them, they haven't announced any EOL status for them so far.

Use the Tools -> Sysinfo page for connection details. Since the new port status display is fairly new and Asus are still making changes to it, I don't want to waste time also making my own changes on top of it, and having to constantly readjust. I'll revisit things once that code gets more stable. In the mean time, people can provide Asus feedback if they feel the new display isn't informative enough. They could possibly add a hover tooltip that would show actual link rate, provided the backend actually pushes that info to the webui.

Seems I'll be moving aimesh points then, when I have budget available. We are getting fiber as wel so ax will also be needed some time in the near future.

Doesn’t hurt to leave scheduled reboot enabled at least once a week early morning save you manually rebooting.

Sure, but I find it a bit difficult to find solutions for things that should be solved in first place. Anyways .... I'll see what to do... Now my gt 2900 runs nice with a ac68u. So all fine for now.

BTW, you can hover over the icon to see the link rate.

You can hover over the connected port and it will tell you the speed except for the USB connections.

OOps, @RMerlin beat me into it.
