First post with new account. I had another post with QOS questions with an un-registered account.
I am having a small issue with DNS I believe.
Background - upgraded from a Dlink 655. Have 9850 running 1.1.0 off website. When I ping windows PC's on my network, they return with the WAN IP of my modem.
example ping pc-1 from Laptop-1. Returns xxx.215.225.9 wich is my WAN IP. If i ping Laptop-1 from pc-1 it returns same address.
On router on System -> LAN tab I have DNS options as First DNS server is DNS relay with router LAN IP listed. second is a google DNS 8.8.8.8

Cable modem or router?
Both PCs are connected to the ESR9850?
Disable DNS relay
This is how it would be with triple ESR-9850 on my network
Thanks. All review posts are moderated. Your review is up now.
I have DDNS set to disable. I have also removed DNS relay under the LAN tab. I set it to use my ISP's DNS and secondary is set to the google DNS of 8.8.8.8 I still have this issue.
This bug is becoming very frustrating as it is breaking my local network.
The question was asked if the WAN IP is returning my modem or my router WAN. I believe it to be the IP of the ROUTER WAN interface.
Tipster - I hope you are referring to this bug that EnGenius when you said they were aware of this issue.
I've been away, just following up on developments, and see tipstir has been really putting the 9850 through the torture tests.
Great job, I wish I had gotten this now instead of my 7750
I see Tim has the 7750 review developing, its holding its own, but less a huge standout among competitors as the 9850.
This ping issue is a show stopper for me. I don't understand how this was not found out during testing.
I hope they are planning on updating FW for this router even with the 9855 coming out. I am tempted to send this back and get the 9855 in its place.

Using firmware 1.09 does turn disable features back on. 1.10 is buggy!
Well yes, everything I've encountered and what you have posted. I've let them know. Forget about the support I go directly to them. Feedback hasn't been of any help so far VPN issue a major one here.
Is your cable modem also a router?
Both your PCs are connected using wired connection to the ESR9850, and are set to DHCP clients?
Good questions. My cable modem is a new Motorola SB6120 Docsis 3.0. I do not believe it is also a router. I think this has to be the router as I did not have this problem before I moved from dlink 655 to this EnGenius 9850. Also the fact that I am getting the IP on the WAN side of the router leads me to think the problem has to be in the router.
Both my PC's are using ethernet lines into a gig switch that uplinks back to the Engenius router LAN ports. They do in fact use DHCP. One of the PC's has a reserved mac address in the router so that it always gets same IP.
According to Senao, all they changed was the default settings so that the Hardware NAT engine is enabled by default. This is so that the user gets the best performance without any configuration.
What features are disabled in 1.10?
